Oh man I don't miss dealing with people's PCs. Seems most people don't even have a computer anymore these days since they do everything on their phone. I really don't know how they manage that but if it means I don't get called at least once a week for something, then I won't complain! When people ask me about phone stuff I tell them I don't really know much about phones.

Made it through all the Win 10 updates finally. I was going to update the bios but the last bios for this motherboard comes as a .bin file that needs to be flashed from a USB boot drive. There is no flash from Windows option.

What annoys me is I can't tell you how many of those cables I've thrown away over the years. I have never seen anything else that uses that square USB Type-B connection. Now all of a sudden I need one.

My DAC also uses the type B.

Printers, scanners and the occasional video-device are the only things I've ever seen use type-b.... and recently the video stuff is pretty much all going over to type-c.

Even with the $7.99 (approx) shipping for one stinking cable from MP they're still a better deal.

Don’t forget Amazon! I’ve been using them lately, as they have their own cables now. I get their cables in a day or two, versus at least a week with Mp. Oh and free shipping with Amazon for me.

Yep.... much as I hate financing Bezos's world-domination (or at least his next space-flight!) they really are the best bet price-wise for a lot of things.

6-foot USB printer cable. $17.99 at Microcenter. $1.99 at Monoprice. What. The. Fuck.

I hate when I need a cable in a pinch since buying locally that's the kind of prices you have to pay. That actually seems like a good deal for a local store. I paid like $49 for a HDMI cable once, it hurt so much, but I badly needed it. It was not actually for me, it was for someone else I was helping so they paid but it still hurt knowing I could probably buy like 10 online for that price lol.

I was laughing when I saw a "HDTV power kit" at Best Buy once, it was basically a power bar, HDMI cable and maybe a couple other cables and it was over $100. But someone that does not know any better won't mind paying that if they're already paying 2 grand for a new TV.

Also I placed the cable order from Monoprice 24 hours ago and my card was charged but I don't even have an order confirmation email from them.

My internet orders for Warhammer stuff clearly aren't arriving fast enough.

Thankfully, both items will arrive on the same day!

Part of the problem is the tendency to drive off new members/nonsense-posters.... I've always said that without the trolls, id10t's and noobs the OT forum would be a lonely place.

Had our dog neutered this past Friday morning, and he's not been a happy camper.

He refused to walk for the first 3-4 days, so we had to carry him out to the yard to use the bathroom. And then without warning, he decided he's going to bite anyone who tries to pick him up anymore. He built my youngest son in the face, and left a cut. He's even tried to bite me a few times over the last few days. Thankfully he's just now starting to get back to walking again, but this whole thing has gone much worse than with our previous two dogs who were fixed / neutered.

And then today, on two hours of sleep since I was up with the dog all last night, some dumbass turned across my lane and almost hitting my driver's side door. There's a reason I started using a dashcam when I moved to NC, because the drivers down here don't seem to understand simple driving laws (like yielding to oncoming traffic when turning across a lane). Dude looked like he was fucking stoned out of his mind (or wasn't playing with a full deck of cards to begin with).

Apple user forums are such a circlejerk. People on there praising Apple for being such a great company and making such amazing products when in reality the company has been beset by a multitude of problems like antennagate, bendgate, buterrfly keyboard lawsuit.

Our corporate IT folks pushed out an image update to all users and it f'ed up. The IT folks run test groups before pushing corporate-wide but no one in the group seemed to notice all the stuff that doesn't work anymore (no sound/mics, blank desktop (where did all the icons go?), really slow response from local C: drives. The fix requires manually logging into each user computer to adjust settings. I calculate that the fix will require a person-year in labor to complete.

I'm laughing with you btw.... also try to remember that it really is better to laugh then cry!

;)

Why oh why do people not test things carefully prior to deployment?!?
