Grabbed a set of eero mesh wifi routers on sale at $240 last month at Best Buy. Haven't taken them out of the package yet. Now they are on sale for $200 for Amazon Prime Day. Best Buy has a 15 day return policy so I'm out of return window already. wtf.

Went for a ride to my off grid property since I haven't gone yet this year due to foot issue preventing me from doing much work. Just wanted to check up on stuff I left there and just see how the road was etc.

On the way there I saw lot of signs that they've been using herbicide in the forest. Kinda sucks that they're doing that so close to my area. It's been a big issue in Ontario and lot of people are fighting to make it stop. They use glyphosate which contaminates the soil and it's pretty nasty stuff and is also a carcinogen. They even used it near a lake I was hoping I could go swimming in. Yeah, not anymore.

It was not super close to my property, but close enough that the wind may have still brought some of the overspray there. Going to want to get my soil tested before I start messing around in there. I was planing on doing that anyway since even without the signs up saying they sprayed who knows if they did many years before. There are ways to neutralize the soil using epson salt so worse case scenario I may have to experiment with that. Gota be careful though, salt is not exactly something you want too much of either. Kinda sucks though, go in the bush thinking you're safe from any human made pollution and they're just spraying carcinogen everywhere.

USPS has been 0 - 2 with the last two packages from Amazon.

The first one a few weeks back, disappeared somewhere in California. The one they delivered today apparently was delivered to someone else's house.

I might have to cancel a few subscribe and save subscriptions if they are going to be using USPS. Our local mail center is by far the worst I've ever seen in all the places I've ever lived, and it's honestly a 50/50 shot on me getting anything shipped through them.

When I order anything from a retailer that gives a shipping option, I "gladly" will pay extra for it to come via Fedex or UPS.

Got back from shopping to find my backpack had come unzipped on the way back, and an item was missing (a bottle of drinking yoghurt). Clearly had fallen out on the walk back. (update - see reverse first-world-problem thread!)

Yeah, in some ways the countryside is even more polluted than the city.

That's a weird thing to do. What are they spraying for?

They're basically trying to kill off all the leafy trees because conifers are more profitable. It's actually pretty horrible. There has been some push to try to make it stop but it's mostly been falling on deaf ears for the past decades.

There's petitions etc but just not enough people really know it's going on or care.

It's been banned in Quebec and I think BC as well, so hopefully eventually it will be banned here too.

So today when the items (protein bars) still didn't magically show up, I went to Amazon to report that the items were delivered to someone else. However, it said I had to wait 24 hours before reporting it. Since they said they were delivered at 11 AM on Friday, I went back to Amazon this afternoon to report that I still didn't have them. However, it still said I had to wait 24 hours, so I guess it's the day they are delivered instead of the actual time, so I would have to wait until Sunday.

Annoyed as hell by this, I placed another order for the missing items, and took the "same day" delivery option, so that way Amazon would deliver them using their drivers. They delivered them around 7 PM.

However, I had a shit ton of subscribe and save items due to be shipped in the next 7-10 days, and I went ahead and skipped all of them. I decided I didn't want to have to chase down things like protein bars, laundry detergent, dishwasher tabs, deodorant, and other similar items. We picked all of those things up with a Sam's Club run this evening.

It's sad that our local USPS is this bad, but they have been that way for many years now. Several years back I even had to stop having my prescriptions sent through them, because more often than not, they would "lose" them or deliver them to someone else.

The person who received our protein bars on Friday came by the house today to give us the package. It wasn't one of our neighbors, and he drove them here, but I didn't want want to ask him what his address was. I figured the package was a goner, but it was nice of him doing what he did.

Now I have 100 protein bars. I don't eat them, but my wife and oldest son each eat one everyday, so they now should be good for 50 days. o_O

Just noticed the arm rests on my new chair I bought in 2020 are already starting to crack. So annoying that you can't buy quality stuff anymore. I paid like $600ish for this chair too thinking I would get something higher quality than the previous ones. I might try to see if I can put epoxy in there or something to at least stop the crack from spreading.

If you're in Hollywood and you have some quirk that you want to showcase (you're Sam Raimi and you want Bruce Campbell in all of your movies, you're Brad Pitt and you have to be eating on camera, etc.) that's fine, whatever floats your boat. But will people please STOP using the Wilhelm scream? There is nothing worse than hearing that odious song effect used in completely inappropriate situations, and every situation is inappropriate.

I think I'm more annoyed by the same passing-truck sound effect used in everything anytime a tractor trailer, dump truck, etc. goes by. The brief horn honk, followed by the slightly longer horn honk which fades out.

Dear New York Times. Why is Elon Musk deciding NOT to buy Twitter worthy of a "breaking news" email alert?

A former employee accidentally sent me his time sheet for his new job for signature. So I signed it.

Not wanting to get into any political debate, but one thing the NHS is not great at is communications. When doctors dictate letters, they never seem to take into account how long it takes for those letters to get through both internal processes and our increasingly-unfit-for-purpose postal system. Got a letter telling me I need to get blood tests done before my hospital appointment - which is in less than two days from now (letter was dated nearly two weeks ago).

(On a previous occasion I got a letter telling me of the date and time of an appointment - which turned out to be exactly one hour _before_ said letter came through my door, meaning I'd already missed it before even being told about it.)

I find the word "breaking news" has lost it's meaning these days. If Justin Bieber farts in public it becomes breaking news lol.
If you had even randomly paid attention to Biebs...he randomly challenged Tom Cruise to a fight...nothing came out of it in the end.
