Every time I have to bring it to the shop I always ask myself why I bought a Ford. :p

I refused to own or work on anyone else's Fords for over 30 years. I drove them and worked on them in the course of my employment...but never on my own time. "My wrenches don't fit no fucking Fords!" I'd tell people who wanted me to work on one...then, in 2005, we bought a Ford Expedition. Nice rig...BUT, it had one recurring repair issue. The AC hose that fed front and rear AC units kept failing. $850 at the dealership...about $300 at the independent shop I used for non-warranty stuff. That's the ONLY repair I've had to do to any Ford I've owned since. (except for the fucking moonroof water leak I've been fighting on my 2019...that's about to drive me crazy...but it's a warranty issue, so it's just inconvenient, not expensive) I put about 60,000 miles on the Expedition, 30,000 each on 2 of the F-150's, and am at about 14,000 miles on the 3rd one.
Since that Expedition, I've owned 3 F150's a Ford chassis motorhome, and a C-Max. I won't even consider any other truck than a Ford.

After using it on and off since my childhood i only now purchased Total Commander license. Felt depressed why I didn't do it before. So I donated also to all donationware i have been using. Then I felt even worse. So wrote apology mail to all of them.

What kind of person am I? Paying 30€ per months to f*n adobe but cannot give 1€ to a person I adore and use their products daily. Fcking leech.

School district announced late this afternoon (after 4pm local) that schools would be closed the next two days due to widespread illness. No warning. Now the kids have an unplanned 5 day weekend that we have to keep them entertained for while the adults still have to work.

that sucks but lets be honest, after the last two years you should be able to entertain kids at home. Make em jog until they puke then tell em to clean themselves and nap.

My state charges 51 dollars to register a gasoline vehicle for one year.
They charge an additional 100 dollars for hybrids.
They charge an additional 200 for electric.

I find that so ridiculous. They talk about how they want to switch everything to electric but then they punish you for it. I guess it's still cheaper in the long run since you're not buying gas and paying all those taxes on it. We already pay federal income and sales tax, provincial income and sales tax, and property taxes among many other taxes I'm probably forgeting. It's never enough for them.

I almost sent a food order to my workplace instead of my house.

I don't know what's with Firefox on this machine but it constantly logs me out of random sites. It started doing it more aggressively lately. Got logged out of Skip so when I put my address to order I realized I was not logged in, so when I did log in, it defaulted to my work place. Caught it right before submitting the order.

Why is the Report as Spam and Block Sender button placed right next to the Trash button on Gmail?

It’s to cover the costs of roads that is covered by the gasoline tax.

Reading the PCIe 6 article, I think the era of hyperscalers and consumers sharing a common technology base is over.

Remember in the early days of high speed internet when all of the tech sites recommended DSL over Cable because cable could slow down if there were too many users while DSL would not? Those were the days.

Here DSL is basically like 8 down 1 up if lucky lol. I've often had to throttle down customers because their connection was unstable. My sister's connection was so bad I told her to just switch to cable lol. It would fluctuate like crazy and the attainable would go to like 200k. So it's trying to push 8 megs over a line that can only do 200k, it's bad news.

I remember when cable first came out it was a bit faster but it was capped. The cap was the deal breaker given ADSL was unlimited and yeah it was shared. Now it does not matter, they can push over 100mbps over cable now and think they got rid of the caps. Another fun one is when they had a satellite service that still required dialup for the upload. That was such an oddball setup to me. I guess you got better speeds for download but it seems almost pointless. I don't think that tech was used for very long though as eventually you could upload with the satellite too.

CenturyLink advertises (I think) 12 mbs DSL, but most of this peninsula gets 3-6 mbs down from them. (I remember when that was screaming fast!)
I pay $125 for "up to 100 mbs down, 10 mbs up" cable internet. I usually get 95 down or better. 9.5 up.

A ridiculous number of expected packages have failed to arrive recently. I think the postman has been leaving packages on the doorstep (a few things that did arrive I found sitting on the step), and someone has simply been nicking them. Really wish the postman wouldn't do that - they are supposed to leave a "while you were out" card and take things back to the depot, but they will insist on just leaving things sitting there. And in practice, anything left outside will be stolen.

Not that any of it would have been worth anything to a thief, in any case. I doubt they'd even know what they are (internal parts for long-obsolete gadgets I was repairing). But I bet they just think this is Christmas season, so there will be valuable 'presents' in parcels.

There's this new company in town called Intelcom that is now responsible for lot of local deliveries and most people have not been getting their packages. The company is a shit show. The packages have just been accumulating on skids outside their depot and nobody is processing them.

That reminds me I ordered something online recently, sure hope it does not go through that company... They sent it through Fedex so I think I'll be ok.
