New Year and new lower rates from the banks/credit unions for my reward checking accounts. Used to have most of them in 4% to 5% or more. Now only two accounts are in the 4% range, the rest are in 2% range or lower. Don't let me start with CD rate and savings.

<sad panda>

The rate is getting even lower today for online savings accounts. From 0.66% to 0.57% APY for my current online savings account. Highest from another bank is 0.70% APY.

Listening to Classic rock channel on Spotify. Money by Pink Floyd, then Three Dog Night, then The Middle by Jimmy Eat World.

I have a coupon from Domino's for a free medium pizza with 2 toppings so I went to redeem it before it would expire plus I ordered a large pizza with 5 toppings for $10 along with the free pizza.
zz
Big mistake. The place was jam packed with orders (online and phone - the darn phone was ringing almost none stop) and I had to wait for almost 30 minutes for my order to complete.

Just received my new iPhone. Checking out my cloud storage b/4 doing a final back up and... 3Gigs of my music are missing. I wondered why some of my songs were missing even though they were listed in some of my mixes. Thanks Apple.

Had to replace an LED bulb today. Kept blinking on and off. Was a Phillips, I believe. Always had a really too-white / blueish tint to it, it was kind of uncomfortable in a manner, but it was what it was, and it cost me nearly $7 at the time, so I kept using it.

Replaced it with a $1 (subsidized by local power company at the local hardware store, some years past) LED bulb, this one was much closer to incandescent in terms of color temp, much warmer. Much more "pleasing". Hopefully it lasts just as long.

LED bulbs are amazing!

Edit: Reading the box:
Brighton Professional
Bright White Light
3000K color temp
22+ years est. lifespan @ 3 hrs / day usage.
$1.08 electric costs per year, @ 3 hrs / day usage.
"Dimmable"

I leave my bulb on 24/7, so I guess $8.65 / yr? 3 year est. lifespan? Works for me, I guess.

I still have in continuous use my first LED bulb that I installed in November 2012. That's +8 years of continuous service (est +70K hours).

I've got an LED bulb still working from 5 years ago.

Got some new corncob LED's to put in the basement last summer. They're bright and lovely. But not cheap.

I find LEDs hit and miss. A lot of mine ended up slowly dieing after a while, they will turn on and off. It's the cheap chinese drivers that are the issue and not the LED modules themselves. Suckers aren't cheap either, especially dimmable ones. I gave up on the dining room fixture and I just replaced the dimmer with a switch so I can use the non dimmable ones. 5x dimmable bulbs adds up especially after I had to replace like 3 of them and then those ones started to act up too.

Every Saturday we drive back from the Windy Hill location (75/285) to the most northern end of Gwinnett county. And my description is exactly how it goes every freaking Saturday.

Around me in CT most of the highways are 55 mph limited with some 65 in limited areas. I find it tends to average between 75-80 regardless of which limit is in effect in a given area.

A few years ago a CT State Trooper told my older daughter (in the process of giving her a verbal warning for speed lol) to "keep it under 80" and the unwritten rule is you won't get pulled over JUST for speed.

Not sure I'm confident enough to speed through a radar-trap to test it out though!

:p

unless you are buying premium, there is no way it is close to 200 bux

Back when gas was up around $4 a gallon I can recall seeing well OVER $200 more than once on gas pumps after the driver had pulled away. Hell it was over $50 to fill the Corolla I had back then at the peak of prices.

Most I've seen any time recently was around $140.

Is your dimmer made for LED's?

I've said this before ... in my county and acceptable response to why were your speeding is you were keeping up with traffic. This was literally in a video shown to people showing up to contest or pay tickets. No wonder everyone is speeding. Can't pull one over if the rest are doing it, too. But the LEOs in my county are usually pretty cool about it. You really have to standout to get their attention and make it worth it for them to chase you down. And yet there are still daily crazies out there. Yes, me saying crazies in light of how I got started in this thread. Heavy traffic and some yahoo wanted to do 120 MPH while its raining. Remember, in north Georgia if you spit on the road it'll cause a ten car pileup.

New year, new higher fee for my mail box. Lower rates for my savings and reward checking accounts across the board.

At least health care cost (insurance) is stable (for now..this year at least).

120mm fan is dying on the PC. I don't have any so it might get replaced with an 80. Open the case to take a look and was reminded that I thought it was kind of cool that some of the cables could be run under the MB for a cleaner look. Which I did. Now I have to take the back of the case off to get to the fan cable.

Eff me.

So, trying to get my new iPhone updated. Was doing okay till I noticed that very few of my Apps were downloading (they were trying but were stuck). After hours of sleuthing, I find out that somehow, after changing my appleID years ago, my Apps are all 'bought' under that original AppleID, which I don't have anymore and don't know the password to. Now, I'll have to make a list, cancel all the installs in progress and them go back and download all the same apps under the new (but old) AppleID. Thank God Apple's shit 'just works'

So..my Comcast internet and phone(Comcast Digital phone service),are both down.I'm having to post this using my Samsung Galaxy S9 via 4G wireless.Comcast says the earliest their service will be back up is 3:15 PM PST.(it's 12:15 PM PST right now.) Quite grumpy at the moment.Didn't realize how much I took having working hardwired internet(not browsing via my smartphone) for granted. Seriously??? WTF? Now they're trying to say it might not be fixed until 11 pm.God damn it...why????

Is there such a thing? Most dimmers use SCRs and just chop up the wave form, I thought the idea behind dimmable bulbs is that it supported that? You could use a variac but one rated for 15 amps would be the size of a toaster. :p

Of course there is...why do you think I mentioned it?
To make matters worse, there are different kinds of dimmers for different kinds of LED drivers...

I went to check out an old musician's website to see if he was still kicking (he's 92). I clicked on the About tab and got a page full of "Ipsum lorem dolor…"

Installed SW Battlefront 2, it was free from Epic Games, stupid key binding will not let me assign x to backward until I remove association of x from crouch to another key...
not to mention DX12 is foobared. It gets stuck trying to "optimize shader" wtf that should be a one time job.
