What first world problem did you have today?

Bought a new Land Rover Defender, cant buy any accessories. Side bars? Backorder. Fender guards? Backorder. Rear tire cover? Backorder.

Had to buy a knock off look alike brand for the side bars.

That's the one thing I hate about winter is the near constant darkness. If I'm working, I don't see any daylight at all whether it's 12h night, or 12h day, or even 8h day. Been on a stretch of night shifts so I have not seen actual daylight for about a week. Get home and it's dark, sleep in the day, wake up and it's dark.

I try to remember to pop a bunch of vitamin D tablets. Been forgetting though... night shifts tends to change my routine around. I have a UVB lamp that I bought so I can stand around for a bit but have not been using it as I'm worried about eye protection, need to find something that I know is safe and I just have not found much. UVB penetrates deeper so don't think just closing eyes is enough and not sure if standard sun glasses are enough. Lot of UVB protection glasses on Amazon but do I really trust that lol.

and noone cares that im PERMANENTLY locked out the email acct i used for Uber (ie: only peasants take cabs)? 🙁

This new ticketting system they came up with is freaking terrible. Tons of AJAX and JS bullshit that does not work half the time so stuff that's suppose to happen does not work. It's also very complicated to use so you need to have the documentation open just to make a freaking ticket. To make matters worse the documentation is formatted in such a way that you need to stretch the browser window across the full width of a 4k monitor just to be able to see everything because there's no wrap. Why does everyone suck so much at web design these days?
 
No idea if that ticket even went anywhere. There's tons of fields you have to put and half the stuff did not work out or was not found for that particular customer so I had to try to find something generic. At some point it just brought me to a completely different screen. Man what a piece of crap software. It's made by IBM, so not really surprising.

The thing about the UK is, the Gulf Stream means it's far warmer than it ought to be, so one forgets just how far North it actually is. Except for the damn darkness.

It's at the same latitude as Newfoundland. Parts of Scotland are at the same latitude as parts of Alaska.

Also, most of my ancestors were from the tropics, I reckon I'm not cut out for the high (latitutde) life.
 
The nice thing with being a red head is more efficient vitamin D production, though that still requires SOME sunlight. It's usually overcast here unless it's in the -30's and we don't get much of those anymore.

Wonder if that's why so many Scots and Irish are red-heads?

A few years ago I spent pretty much an entire summer out-doors all day every day, then at the end of it blood tests showed I had almost no vitamin-D at all. Doctor prescribed me supplements. Still take them.

Every time in my life when some distant relative came here from the 'old country' they would never stop complaining about how cold it was. But the cold never bothers me, that must be down to what one is personally used to (growing up in a drafty English house with no central heating).

But I really get fed up with the lack of light, have done my whole life.
 
Back in the office today after months of teleworking, had to leave a message for a customer and I could not remember my desk phone number to leave on the voicemail, literally stammering and sputtering over it. I ended up hanging up and calling back. 🙁 😛
 
This is not from me but my friends in Louisiana.

They live in a rural area and the bridge that connects their neighborhood is old so it will be replaced in February of 2021 so they will have to find a new route in which it will add about 10 miles extra to their daily commute.

So what is the big deal? The bridge will be out for at least a year so they will have to put up for the extra long commute time and distance (can't work from home with farming and meat/milk processing), the extra wear and tear on the vehicles, and the aggregation with the incoming horrible traffic. Road rage indeed.

Another one. Feel pretty dumb admitting to this one. Bought some digital music, only to realise I'd already bought it (in the same format!) from a different site earlier this year. I even thought at one point "hmmm should check - do I already have this?", but by the time I'd decided to actually make the purchase (after procrastinating for a day) I'd forgotten again.

This is another drawback to digital goods vs physical media - you can't resell the redundant purchase.
 
Stopped by my favorite bakery for one of their excellent grilled bacon, cheese and tomato sandwiches and side of broccoli salad. No joy - only serving breakfast today :-(

On the plus side, I had meant to get an apple pie there for Christmas, and, tada, there was one left in the case!

There's this thing called the internet and it has these places called webpages. One of these webpages is named Amazon, and they sell a lot of different types of stuff with fast shipping.
