I'm losing first world status again. My car got chewed up by the ROUSes and is in the shop so I'm stuck at home. The gas company busted a water main (again) so I'm stuck at home with no running water.

Hopefully the water company will bust a gas main in order to even everything out.

The water is back on now and the car might be ready this afternoon. Packrats ate a bunch of wires causing the car to throw codes for all sorts of crap. Once the wires are replaced, the mechanics have to see if any of the codes are real.

Old Dewalt cordless Drill batteries are nearly dead (NiCad).
Can't decide if I want to buy a new pair, or switch to lithium.

Not a lot of difference in price...in fact, if your NiCd stuff is 18v, the new 20v Batteries won't work w/o an adapter

Yeah, I know that now. Can't actually find the right replacement battery (except from Dewalt, for $$200!) Might just wind up getting a new Drill/battery/charger combo - it's cheaper!

Depending on your drill, I find this adapter kit:

For less money:

If you don't care about sticking with Dewalt:

I've had Ridgid cordless tools for about 10 years. Dependable, rugged, lifetime service agreement once you register the tool with Ridgid.

Thanks Boomer for all the hard work!

Well this sucks. There's a domain I wanted and it was going to auction. I placed a proxy bid just a few dollars over asking to make sure I'm in the auction.

And the auction never happened. No idea WTF happened, but it's just in some weird limbo mode now. I also can't place a higher proxy bid anymore. Had I known I would have put in the max I am willing to pay... I figured this was going to be a live auction. I've done this before and that's normally how it works.

The only thing I can think of is maybe someone managed to snatch it before the auction site got it, but it would be nice if it told me that instead of making me guess whats going on.

Ok so the auction started... but that was a stressful wait not knowing WTF was going on. Also turns out it lasts 3 days, damnit! Was hoping to do this tonight. Now I need to make sure to be available near the end and that falls on Sunday... hope my family does not need me for anything.

Most lopsided repair ever: five dollars in parts and $900 in labor. :( As much as I don't like it, I can see why labor would be very high to track down rodent damaged wiring, replace it, repeat until all is well again.

Bought some mailing labels (30 per sheet) to label my Chinese spices and starches. Got the template setup right, go the Chinese right but didn't check the English. Since I was copying and pasting from label to label. So now I have 3 different starches that have the same English name...
