Went online and looked around for a cheap flight ticket to outside the US by the end of this year/early next year and the taxes/fees were ridiculous. The US has the most taxes and fees (amount and variety).

Other countries - very much only two fees. 1)Facility passenger charge and 2) Passenger security charge.

USA -
U.S. Immigration User Fee
U.S. Customs User Fee
September 11th Security Fee
U.S. Passenger Facility Charge
U.S. APHIS User Fee

All of the above fees from the US would be 2x because you would have to fly back to the US so you have to pay those fees again.

Woke up this morning and rolled out of bed and sat down to start working at 8 am.

A few minutes or so later I looked down and noticed the power cable plugged into my work laptop doesn't have its LED light on. That's odd. Looked to my right and the mug warmer is no longer on.

Yep, my apartment lost power. I typically don't turn any lights on during the day so I didn't notice immediately. I looked out in the hall and there's lights on out there so it might be just me. Looked at circuit breaker box and none were tripped so I didn't touch anything (I don't know jack about house wiring and whatnot).

Reported outage to DTE and notified work. Thankfully it was my "off" day where I'm not working on a client project (down to 3/5 time on it).

Basically laid around until about 11 am (couldn't continue what I was doing without internet) when the DTE technician calls and says he's here, and I repeat the problem. He has me cycle the two biggest breakers in my apt but no change.

He calls back maybe 10 mins later saying he couldn't get to the outside circuit box cause there's two raccoons in there and he don't wanna get bitten/rabies, so he's gonna go to leasing office and see if maintenance can get rid of them. I debate asking him if I should bring my 30-30 outside and take them out.

Another maybe 15 minutes and boom, power comes back on. He just had to flip some switch back, that the raccoons must've tripped or something.

Then about 20 minutes ago I lose internet even though my modem lights were all on (it does happen occasionally). Thankfully, like usual, turning off modem and router, waiting, then powering back on worked.

Most excitement I've had working from home since this started lol.

I've been out of work a little while now and since theres almost no stores I can visit I been taking lots of cat naps.
My brain no longer has a concept of time.
Woke up and the clock said 7:30. Because of the clouds I honestly did not know if it was A.M. or P.M. Took me a while to figure that one out.

I work shifts I never have concept of time or days lol.

One time I got home from night shift and went to bed. Something woke me up and I noticed the time, it was like 8:30. I woke up in pure panic, I thought it was 8:30 pm and that I overslept past my next 7:00pm shift, but it was 8:30am and I only had slept like 1 hour.

Half the time I don't even know what day of the week it is either, it's pretty bad. Like I thought it was Monday today until I actually checked and it's Wednesday.

I forgot to set "no sleep" on when I booted my work PC. Needless to say it went into sleep mode while I was on lunch, and there is a weird issue with Windows and Displayport where it will shuffle all your windows all over the place if you turn off a monitor... which the sleep did. yeah just had fun having to reorder everything. Apparently this has been an issue since like 2010 and Microsoft refuses to fix it. Unfortunately I'm also having the same issue in Linux, when I switch to the DP input it will sometimes screw up the HDMI on that monitor and stuff on my Linux box gets shuffled. It's not as bad but still annoying. Why can't OSes leave my freaking windows alone when I simply change monitor inputs or turn it off? At least Linux does not do anything when I turn it off though. Windows is horrible for that. I think it's specific to DP.

I went out of the house for my break (working from home today) and when I got back I deactivated my alarm. The cops showed up 5 minutes later saying they got an alarm call at my house. I was kinda stumped by that. I checked the alarm app on my phone and sure enough, it said it was armed, but on the alarm panel it said it was disarmed. The alarm company never got the disarm and it registered as a smash and grab. Like if someone came in, broke the alarm and left.

The police are issuing a fine of over $100 to the alarm company... which I'll probably end up paying. Called them to dispute it but they said to wait until they actually get it then I can email a certain address.

Now I'm kind of paranoid it does this again. That was clearly a glitch and not me forgetting to disarm it or anything.

I was at the local lumber yard on Friday to fill a couple of propane tanks...inside the store, they had a Dewalt DWS779 miter saw on sale for $299. Their display model was broken, so they said they'd have to order one in...would be here on Monday. Nope...now they're saying the warehouse is out of stock...no idea when they'll be able to get it. Apparently it's a discontinued model...and the replacement model is $599.
I don't need one that fucking badly...I really don't NEED one at all...I have a small POS Kobalt from Lowes with a 7-1/4" blade that has served my needs well enough for the past several years...but damn...a Dewalt 12" sliding, double miter miter saw for under$300? TAKE MY MONEY!

My dang new coffee mug warmer died after only a month of use (I need one because I fail at drinking coffee when it's hot).

Have you guys returned stuff to Amazon without the original box/packaging?

The LED comes on but it doesn't heat up. It started doing that a week after getting it but unplugging and plugging back in seemed to fix it. But not anymore I guess.

I threw the product box out after seeing the thing work after receiving it. Usually I save boxes for a little while after getting something just because of returns, but I thought I was good with this thing.

I feel that would be something easy enough to repair, did you take it apart to check why it's not working? Maybe something loose for the heat element or a fuse or something. Probably less trouble than returning it and waiting for another one.

Amazon is pretty good for returns though I feel they would take it even without original packaging, but you'd have to check with them.

Yea, it's easy getting used to not doing them :^D It's easy enough, but I just don't feel like it. Extend the deadline? I'll take it!

Got mine done a while back. Had like $1,300 or so return. That basically paid for my 4k monitor setup. Though I kinda have buyers remorse on that, perhaps I should have bought only one and not two and put the rest on the credit line. That credit is not going down very fast.
