I wonder how hard it would be to write a small program that dropped packets. It could be user selectable from 'mild nuisance' to 'total hardware failure' depending on need.
They might know if you hit mute, depending on the app. (in zoom it shows).
It would actually be kinda fun to build a hardware packet dropper, it could even be useful to test protocols to see how they handle a bad connection. Maybe an arduino that turns some relays on/off to disable the pins for short bursts.
This actually happen with our offshore people, they first show mute unmute a few times then they drop off.
A few min later they rejoin citing vpn issues.
They probably managed to empty your bank account when they did that. Those guys are sneaky like that.![]()
If you have an Android phone, I'm pretty sure you can use it together with a Google Gmail account to do automatic, periodic backups. And let's not get into the fact that this stuff is not really easy to backup. What happens if you lose your phone or get a new phone?
I just find they really need to make a standard for this stuff instead of relying on proprietary apps/platforms.
Welp...trying to remove the inside panel that covers the area that ices up...still solid ice at the topof the panel. I have a hair dryer and small fan inside the fridge....HOPING to that it out enough so I can get it apart to (a) clean the drain line, and (b) clean and totally defrost the cooling fins. PITA.
Late reply, "fixed?"
So far, so good...Of course, I still might have to do it all again and replace all the defrost parts...around $150.
First off (which you realize now) is that Samsung fridges rank up the top of biggest piles of crap. Ice makers in them are laughable and of course well the defrost bug. Pretty crazy to have a class action against you.
Actually bought an extended warranty on mine. Ran into this twice. First time was at night and I was like, well need to get this get taken care of now so I saw the youtube and thawed it myself.
Second time it was so bad there was a quarter inch of ice on the bottom of the fridge. Called the place and they sent someone out. He worked like a ninja since he has probably done it a thousand times before. Had a little steam box to thaw it out.
He leaps behind the fridge and replaced a couple parts. Hard to describe, but they were two of them. They looked like small plastic/rubber funnels. Said Samsung redesigned them. Showed me the old ones and they were nasty.
Since then (probably been five years) it has been problem free. And now I'm going to find a large piece of wood to knock on.
I'm terrified of having to get a new fridge. The only features I want are it gets cold, and a light comes on when I open the door, and I'm flexible on that last one. Seems like new stuff is fancier, and more delicate with more creative ways of not working.Yeah, it's disappointing how bad refrigerators are nowadays. It's not just Samsung, although they seem to be the worst of the "big name" brands.
I remember the fridges of yesteryear that were built to last 20 years or more.
I checked and cleaned the defroster drain tubes in the back. They were fine, but, since I was already there...might as well clean them.
