Yeah depends what I can get at a reasonable price/time frame. I can pickup a regular car for like 3k and not seeing any trucks lower than 7k right now. But my dad lent me his car so I will just keep looking I'm sure something will come up.

I have about 30k in corporate shares (not sure how much of them I can cash, probably half) but I really don't want to eat at all of them. That's my off grid property money. :p But I do need a truck or SUV if I want to buy off grid property... so I have to spend some of it no matter what really.

Boss lost the Swiss Army knife I got him, and I was looking for a replacement. It's hard finding one with the exact tools I'd like to have. I wish they made custom tools. I'd pay a premium for that. What would be cool is a software selector that let you put whatever you wanted in the tool. It would list the various components, give a list as to what would fit, and wouldn't allow incompatible tools. You drag/drop, hit buy, and they build it for you.

i saw that apple is the latest phone maker to claim that a normal lens offers telephoto capabilities. that annoys the hell out of me. 52 mm! that's not telephoto!

I bet it's digital zoom too. Digital zoom = cropping the image and making it bigger.

To be fair the iphones have always had pretty good cameras so I bet this is actually going to be pretty skookum... as much as I hate to admit it since I'm not an apple fan lol.

That would be pretty sweet (Swiss army knife customizer). I'm not a big fan of them personally but I carry a Leatherman Squirt PS4 that I like a lot. It's only got a few tools but it comes in handy, especially the scissors (the main reason I got it actually haha).

Oh, and my FWP is that I get frickin sweaty sleeping in my bed. It ain't like my apartment is hot, either. The temperature is usually around 71 degrees F. And I'm not all covered up with blankets either; just a comforter and sheet and that's pulled down to about my stomach area. But my back still gets sweaty, sometimes even enough to start being noticeable on my t-shirt. I don't remember this happening with my old bed either (I have a memory foam one now, the old one was just a regular old spring mattress). Ugh frickin annoying.

But I guess it's not totally the mattress, because I've been sleeping with two pillows now so I can prop myself up a bit (doctor said I was suffering from GERD recently), so most/half of my back is actually laying on the pillows, and that's the part that gets sweaty. But it's still partially due to the mattress, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure I've even mentioned it on here a couple times in other threads.

It is when the sensor is 3mm.
if that were the actual focal length then yes, a 52 mm lens on a 3 mm sensor would offer a telephoto angle of view. but that's not the actual focal length, it's an equivalent lenth. so, it's normal, not telephoto.

Well, the physical length is shorter than focal length

telephoto in common parlance refers to the angle of view of the lens. not whether a lens has a telephoto group.

edit: the actual focal length is 6 mm using a 1/3.6" (5 mm diagonal) sensor so i don't even know if it's the case that the physical length is shorter than the focal length.

Had a bad a back spasm that significantly injured my SI joint (well two actually). Put on a muscle relaxer and a course of methyl prednisone and 8 Advil a day. Sitting and laying on the couch reading and watching a stupid amount YouTube videos. Fucking bored out of my mind, I have a bunch of things that need to get done

The lens is definitely thicker than 6mm no?

I had one of my replies in the Cheez wilderness thread deleted by the mods. I honestly can't even remember what I said.

What I don't like about the Leatherman tools is the steel's too hard. I have an original PST I carry to work every day, but I've broken almost everything in it. I mainly carry it for the pliers. The breakage admittedly happened due to abuse, but that's why I have these tools. It's for something to make do when I don't have easy access to my toolbox, so they get abused. Swiss Army steel's a good bit softer, so it stands up to abuse better. Means you have to sharpen the blades more often, but they sharpen up quick too.

Today ... when making a mailing label I deleted the FIRST digit of the house number (1316 became 316). So at the post office, they couldn't find the address in their database. We decided to ship it anyway ... BUT once I got back from the post office I double-checked the address I remembered on the label with the address on record here, and noticed the missing digit. I had to call the local post office and report the REAL house number so they could update the shipping label for me. Fortunately only half an hour had elapsed, and the postal employee recognizes me and my name, so I think they were able to recover and relabel my package.

Wonder if my tracking number is still valid?? Not that I typically bother tracking packages I send.

Hmm, another Medrol Dosepak and a Lumbosacral MRI to, hopefully, find out why this keeps happening.
Oh, and of course, I start PT this Friday. I think the long term answer is what I was told the last time I had to go to PT for this - I can never stop going to the gym and work the weight machines for the rest of my life (well, until I become infirm).

PS This all started in 2009, when I though it would be a good idea to fall down the basement stairs - well, my feet thought it was a good idea.

Hmmm, did not know that about the steels. I definitely don't use mine very hard (I have a full size Leatherman too) though. But yeah it makes sense why you'd prefer the Swiss ones.

if it's 6mm long then it doesn't have a telephoto group. from a lens design standpoint, a telephoto lens is one that has a telephoto group in order to make it shorter than the focal length (fun fact: most ultra wideangle lenses also have telephoto groups, reversed).

however, that's not the popular parlance, as i noted above. in common usage "telephoto" means a long focal lens relative to sensor/image size. historically, on 35mm cameras, 85 mm was commonly the shortest "telephoto" lens. despite the fact that (afaik), 85 mm lenses don't have telephoto groups (they're small enough to begin with).
