It's 2017 and laptops are still terrible about waking up from sleep mode. Might as well just reboot at this point.
Maybe that's a windows issue. Only had brief trouble once on gnu/linux with what I believe was a kernel regression. It works reliably enough my mother can put xubuntu to sleep and wake it up without calling me.

This particular issue is on Windows, but until very recently I had the problem on my Linux based laptop. Looks like they finally fixed it so that my wifi will wake up with the laptop.

I never use sleep/hibernation mode. I feel you're just asking for trouble using those modes. Besides, If the laptop isn't plugged in while in those modes, so long battery life. Albeit not a large drain, but I wouldn't want it.

Do they also use 45 volts on ring in Canada as well?

48v here, (battery banks of 24x 2v cells in series), floats at around 54. We have 4 strings of big ass cells in our building, but we also have about 1600 amps worth of stuff. Some smaller ones may have under 100 amps and smaller batteries.

Some oddball ones are on a 24v system, so they float around 27v.

Still dealing with tons of outages now, but for that region it's weird, we send tickets and never hear anything back. So talked to a manager and he's like "yeah we're handling it" so sounds like things are under control and I'm panicking more than I have to. :p

Still like 1-2 days before they restore hydro everywhere.

I once found a circuit to make your own telephone system with two DTMF phones. I think it was in a book I got at the library. I've always wanted to build that.

I lent the office alcoholic $20 yesterday, and he didn't pay me back today when he cashed his check. I don't like having to ask for my money back. Now I need to decide if I'm gonna ask for it back, or tell him to fuck himself next time he asks for money. I know what I'd prefer to do, but I go out of my way to make that worthless sack of flubber's life easier, because in turn, it makes my life easier in a roundabout way.

Next time he asks, remind him that he owes you $40 already. When he balks and says it was only $20, "So you didn't forget. What category of sorry does that make you?" or "Dumb ass tax for coming at me again when you already got a free $20."

Since I no longer have severe inflammation from my diet, my cold tolerance has gone to crap. It's 44F/6.67C outside and I can't hang.

You're right. Without writing a book(my rant would be the most epic of rants), I'm nice to him, and go waaaaay out of my way to get him to work. That probably makes me a sucker, but it's good for a few people, as well as the company that he's there(though I personally need him like I need tits).

What irritates me most is he makes more money than me due to always having 40 hours on his timesheet, but he doesn't have money, and he doesn't have shit to show for it. Our lives are about as identical as they could be, except I'm not a fuckup. We both drink, we both use tobacco, and we pay about the same amount to live where we're living. The difference is I'm sensible about it. I don't drink 12+(probably 18+) shitty beers a night, and wash it down with cheap ass whiskey I wouldn't clean a toilet with, then pound two packs of shitty generic cigarettes per day...

I'm starting to lose control, and could go on and on and on, so I'll just finish with his problems are all to do with self control. There's a solution, but he needs to put in a couple micrograms of effort...

Brought my safety vest in to wash figuring I wouldn't need my hot weather vest anymore this year. Also anticipated swapping out my hot weather boonie hat for my cool weather hat. Just checked the weather. Gonna be upper 60s the end of next week :bangshead:

I'm so fucking sick of hot weather. Fall's ruined again...

Yeah I'd like to make a small phone switch one day just as a fun project. It's actually not THAT complicated in the grand scheme of things. What would be really cool is to make something that can interface with the DMS100, but I don't know enough about it to be able to do that. Heck, I should try to find some documentation on how to do that, we have Star modules and other PMs and it's hard to get the parts for those, if I actually came up with a solution that works I'd probably be deemed a hero. Then again my company is quite bull headed about stuff like that, you suggest something and they go the opposite way.

Would still be fun to do as a project though.
