So we got 3 4k monitors at work to replace our 6+ regular res ones as we just did not have enough monitor real estate and 4k just made more sense as 1 monitor is like 4 HD ones. For primary monitor we use a regular res one, for email, documentation etc.

Overall nice setup, but now I'm so used to the size of text and icons etc on the 4k ones that the main one feels so big when I'm working with stuff. Reminds me of when you first install windows and need to install the video drivers. :p

I also now want a 4k at home. (I don't need as much real estate as work so 1 would do). It's not right that I have a better setup at work than at home. The humanity!

They say as a society we're too obsessed with cleanliness a little dirt is good for you

That's a good thing, that's why we don't have so many diseases like in poor/dirty places. Of course stuff like vaccines help a lot too.

Your imune system can only go so far.

My music collection has exceeded the capacity of my iPod Classic. Now I have to decide what to leave off the iPod.

Had to reinstall my mother's o/s today. I wanted to do it awhile ago, but the flash drives I took wouldn't work right on her machine, so I just installed xfce over her ubuntu install. Well, something wasn't right and she ended up having problems. What those problems were, I don't know. I'd have an easier time getting my cat to explain quantum entanglement to me...

So... I did a fresh install of xubuntu, and hopefully it'll all work out. It's always fine when I see it, but she has $problems. I did some stupid stuff to make it as idiotproof as possible, but you know how it is with idiots. You could give them a brick that just sits there as a paperweight, and they'd manage to fuck it up somehow :^D

Well looks like I got hit with the Equifax BS. Pisses me off that we are responsible for someone else's mistake. They should do jail time for this.

I have someone coming over so don't have time to be on hold with CC company but basically someone bought Malwarebytes using my credit card. Assuming the email I got is legit. It does look legit though, has my name, CC# and everything. It's not posted on the CC site yet though so no idea what the amount is.

I turned on the tv and this show "The Toy Box" was on ABC where apparently prototype toys are brought before children and the host informs them that only one of them will get an amazing deal to be sold exclusively in Toys R Us stores.

It made me feel a little sad. :(

It is October and the temperature is still in the upper 80's and lower 90's and high humidity = sticky hot. The central AC is running so the electricity bill will be high again this month. <sad panda>

Sam's Club is no longer carried the item I need for my business so I did have to drive 6 miles extra round trip to Walmart to get that item and may have to do that from now on if Sam's does not carry it anymore.

Virginia has finally cooled off.
At night it gets down in the 50's.

It's not quite hot enough overall in the house for A/C, and it's been cool enough that I need the furnace in the morning just to take the chill off to make it easier to get up. But I'm sitting here and it's 23C in my office and I had to give in and use the A/C. I feel like it's such a waste of energy knowing that I'll end up using the furnace tomorrow morning. :p

Payed over $200 for a Columbia winter parka. But, I saved $50 by getting the store credit card and, well, it's a flipping nice jacket!

Fall is such a pain in the ass. I have to constantly switch between wearing my lounging shorts in the house to wearing my sweatpants for outside whenever I have a smoke on the patio. It's been rainy and cold here in Colorado. Temps have been around 7C.

So far my parents, being the very computer illiterate they are haven't managed to mess the computer up I gave them. It has Win 7 and I have locked it down pretty well. I clone it periodically just in case the SHTF. But my parents are in their 60's. So I imagine when they hit 80 who knows how they'll be.

My mother was never the sharpest knife in the drawer, and age hasn't helped any. Having ubuntu already saved her from getting pwned by "microsoft support". She was complaining about performance, so I wanted to use xubuntu instead to maximize meger resources. She's 83

Not today, but November 6th I'm going on a Carnival cruise to Mexico and I found out the pools ARE NOT HEATED! A swimming pool in November? FUCK I HATE COLD WATER! Not being able to swim will kill me, I guess I'll have to drown out my 1st world problems with beer and the all you can eat included food. I'm sure I'll end up eating too much and end up feeling real sick. Yet another 1st world only problem.
