Trying to replace a broken sprinkler head...

Went to Lowes and bought a new head that is 3/4" female. I had eyeballed the hose in the ground and thought it was also 3/4" so I bought a 3/4" elbow (old sprinkler attached on the side and new attaches on the bottom). Brought it home - elbow doesn't fit the hose. The hose in the ground is only 1/2".

Second trip to Lowes I found a 1/2" male to 3/4" male into the elbow. All good right? Brought it home. Wrong - the hose in the ground is actually male (duh). So now 2 males can't intercourse and now I have to make a 3rd trip, all for a single damn sprinkler head.

Why can't they just make a 1/2 female to 3/4 male elbow?

My Minecraft account got hacked. (Old password.)

I changed the password but can't change the profile name back for 30 days.

I gotta figure out some new passwords to use. This is getting stupid.

I'm transferring data from one database to another. There is no import function for the location data so I have hand enter over four hundred lines of legal land descriptions into the new database. No shortcuts. It's like hand copying four hundred VIN numbers.

Heh, the programming portion of my career started with something similar: "Take these numbers, enter them into this calculator thing, and then type the results in over here. Please do this 3600 times."

Yay QBASIC.

The several years old vehicle is giving me minor issues. Maybe time to get a brand new one? Nah, depreciation is sucky big time.

Tell me about it. Still waiting to get rid of my craptastic Jeep Renegade.

Downside is, the next vehicle will probably be a minivan :(

Went to the store and forgot to get chips. Now I have salsa but no chips. A couple days ago I had chips but no salsa. Why is life so unfair?

If life is unfair to everyone, then doesn't that make life fair? :screamcat:

It's a rule called Leboitzse's rule (spelling?) Like if you know you'll hit your finger with a hammer you hold the hammer with two hands. Likewise, if you know you will miss items at the store write a list! :D

That just makes life a fair casino. Everybody loses in the long run but you have the chance to win in the short run.

I have shopping lists for different stores on my phone - for all of the items I normally buy. But I don't normally buy chips. I'm going to think about adding them.

"What a retarded phishing attempt. No one would be dumb enough to click that link", I thought. Then my work inbox filled with forwarded spam as coworkers clicked that link. Then came the wave of apology emails with the payload still attached. :D Then came the email from IT telling people to stop clicking and forwarding the link. Then came the apology emails directed at IT, still containing the link. Here's the link if anyone is interested.

^ IT emails imploring folks to not click the link now outnumber the emails generated by folks clicking the link. :)

I was being given a fairly nice, mostly complete 5.1 home theater setup (including TV)...but after spending another $300 to get 'er done (for my needs) the receiver blew up. It's probably gonna cost at least another $300 to replace it. When freebies get really expensive...

And I already had a suitable fully functioning setup, which I passed on to another family member who had none.

Had to mow the lawn. That's it, but that's enough.

Plus side is it was fairly cool today, and everything smells like flowers. The holly trees are going strong, and smell great.
