Hmmm actually this might be a good oportunity to buy a few monitors for work. I badly need more real estate because of all the extra stuff we have to monitor now, and they won't buy us more monitors. I don't really want to spend money on work though...

I could buy a 4k for myself and go back to single monitor, as 4k is like 4 normal monitors. Then I'll have 3 spare monitors to use for work. Hmmmm... But my KVM probably does not support 4k which means I have to find one that does, and KVMs that are decent are hard to find.

Hmmm this has me thinking though. Might wait to see what I find on Boxing Day. But most of the deals tend to stick around throughout the season anyway.

The problem though is they are cheap, but also built cheap. Back in the day you bought a TV and it was an investment that lasted for decades. Now you're lucky to get a decade out of it.

It only took 30 years for that point to sink in: most of the shit we buy is disposable and you better plan for it. Getting rid of a flat panel TV bigger than 37" is a pain in the ass. Same for any CRT above 20"...

Yeah I remember setting up my 55" and I needed help, it's just too awkward to move/lift those while trying not to damage them.

The fans for my battery rack keep going bad and start to make a grinding noise. Now the exhaust one started doing it too. If I tap it, it stops for a while but now it started again. I think I may need to disconnect it. Think I'm going to end up having to replace them all.

You guys that are complaining about your power bills should come on down here to Jacksonville where the city owns the power company and see what it's like to have one of the highest per kw charges in the country. It's supposed to be a non profit but they rake in enough cash to pay the CEO big annual cash bonuses and give all the workers end of year cash as well. Meanwhile the rates continue to soar.

My avatar got fuxxor3d after the hack. I had to draw a new one. Wasn't sure if it should be a smiley face or mad face given the circumstances so I went with both.

Hmm I did notice some people's avatars were messed up. That indicates they not only had access to the db but to the file system. I wonder if the staff actually investigated that lol. NSA probably has a bunch of tracking trojans in the server by now. 😛

I went to photograph the walls of a mine that has fluorescent minerals. The wall that had thick bands of good stuff was getting indirect sunlight coming in through the tunnel entrance. Stupid winter light. Here are a couple pics of the walls that weren't in sunlight.

I saw an interesting topic, with a somewhat insightful op in P&N, but the usual cunts shitted it up before ten posts were reached. I don't know why I bother. My jul wish is to get quick links on this forum, customizable a la reddit.

There is a concert in LA in January that I want to attend. I priced out airfare, car, and hotel. It turns out that I can't afford to go to the first world. 🙁

Not sure LA qualifies as first world. Jimi Hendrix playing there wouldn't be enough to get me to LA.

Find surplus fans from old industrial machines. AC fans.

They're cheap enough new, probably will just buy a better quality brand than I originally did. I don't need a lot of air flow, just enough so hydrogen does not build up. It's currently wired for 12v so will stick with that. Could probably get 48vdc fans at work if I asked.

Oddly opening and closing the front door to the cabinet stopped it. Probably created a vacuum and pulled on the fan enough to settle it. I sealed that thing up pretty good when I built it. There's one exhaust port that goes right at the hydrogen sensor.
