I've run into issues with 3rd party software causing the upgrade to fail on my desktop with the original release. I've cleaned installed several times since then and once the latest Redstone version is released I'll probably do it again at some point. You might try uninstalling the software responsible and try it again. And on a side not I haven't seen any mole activity today in the yard.
I tried running the update from a thumbdrive and that progressed far enough along to give me error messages which were helpful, as opposed to the "can't upgrade" message I got with the auto updater. I had to increase the size of the system reserve partition and then had to unplug the USB hub. After that, it worked.
I shut off all the data mining features I could find. I'll have to read more on this topic to make sure I turn off as many as possible. So far, all my programs run fine.
Barring any problems on the laptop, this Sunday I'll tackle the desktop which is my main computer. I upgraded the video card on the desktop today and that went flawlessly. Doom (the reason for the new card) threw up a hairball because I had set virtual memory very low in order to minimize hits on the SSD. Once I adjusted that, I was able to kill, kill, kill, and see veins in my teeth. So all in all, a productive day.
