Like 5 years I think. I never even realized till not that long ago actually. Smoke detector are 10 years typically.

New problem: trying to sleep and neibgour has super loud music. Downside of weather being nicer, this is a constant thing even in weekdays. Think I'll have to start sleeping in living room on couch.

Admittedly, I have not looked in to it, but I thought those surgeries were much cheaper than that in that part of the world.

Trimmed the number of DVD boxes I had down by maxing the capacity of the boxes. Now I have a dozen spare boxes that I "have" to try selling. Plan was to recycle them since they should be polypropylene, but they have vinyl label holders.

And I'm backing my crap up to my external hard drive... not sure if I should get an extra USB drive or not now.

It's super nice out, was actually hot enough that I had to use the AC in the car for the first time. But I'm stuck at work.

A side effect of warm weather like this is the snow melting and lot of water everywhere, which means tons of data trouble dispatches due to bad cables. I guess I can't complain I make pretty good money. You just get so used to doing nothing all night then it's annoying when it's busy.

Realized that I should get a smoke alarm to go near my bed because the closest one is outside my bedroom. Inside my bedroom is a cable box on 24/7 and other crap that's plugged in. If any of them meltdown when I sleep, I am probably dead before the smoke makes it to the nearest alarm.

Edit: Went celebrity Instagram stalking and stupidly read comments. Video of celeb dye/washing hair = tons of comments about how much water she's wasting running the tap between rinses. Give me a break, industry uses more than residential ever will. Your iPhone/computer you typed that with probably used way more from mining to manufacturing to shipping.

Edit: More importantly, people were talking about wasting water and how some people don't have it. They likely typed that on a smartphone/computer using Instagram -- nice symbols of consumerism. Bet that $500 phone/computer could have fed a family in a third-world country for a long time. Lifespan of electronics = a couple years, then off it goes to China to be recycled by kids burning parts for metals while destroying local water sources.

Got r134a to (hopefully)fix the ac in the work truck. Turns out the charge is probably fine, but there's a fault elsewhere. Now it's getting into difficult/expensive territory, and it looks like I'll have a hot summer. yay :^|

Could it just be the compressor belt? I assume you're getting some cool air but not much. There aren't any other moving parts so the only other option is that the flow is being blocked by something.

No squealing. Hard to say regarding temp. Hasn't gotten hot yet(tomorrow will be), so the air kinda sorta feels cool, but I think it's ambient temperature. When I checked the pressure, it showed it being overcharged. I took it for a short drive with the ac on, and the pressure was even higher.

I've never really fooled with ac(hardly ever even had it), so I'm not that familiar with repair. I don't enjoy car work, but I enjoy it more than dealing with the jokers that do our auto work. I'd rather try to fix it myself than be without a vehicle for a few days, and getting back still screwed up.

It was neglected by my boss, so I need to do a bunch maintenance that was never performed, and since it's a bmw, everything is weirder and more expensive. Something as simple as changing the sparkplugs is a pita. I'll need to have a valvecover gasket on hand, because I may find leaked oil, and a plug change is halfway towards a valvecover change. It does leak oil, but I can't see where with all the stuff in place.

Another task to add to the list of stuff I don't feel like doing...

Paranoid about the skin cancer and destroying my money maker with UV rays... I don't have the complexion that usually gets skin cancer, so it's mainly about the money maker.

P.S. It came to me that sitting on the street by a busy roadway == shit dust from all over the road in my food too.

Hard drive in my work PC threw a SMART error.

IT isn't replacing them with like-for-like because the enclosure for this model PC apparently cooks HDDs, and the Dell-provided replacement parts fail even more often than the original.

So I'm being told I need to order an SSD through our corporate accessory ordering process, which is a pain in the ass.

Edit: Oh, and the whole system is due for replacement in january 2017 anyway, so it's all a waste of money.
