I really want to get a cheap, 8" cast iron pan to screw with. It's only like $25 but sounds high maintenance compared to stainless steel.

What I should do is put the money towards a $125 All-Clad 10" fry pan, but the cast iron is so cute?

the internet is in love with cast iron, but tbh, other than steak I'd just as soon cook anything in a stainless steel pan (or non-stick for something like an omelet)

no need to worry about maintaining the season, and I can scrub it in the sink to my heart's content.

Cast iron is awesome. The only thing that sucks is Lodge is the last American maker. Wagner(which I had the pleasure of buying new in a store), and Griswold made better cookware. Beats a blank though. I'd take a Lodge over any "high tech" pan of the minute.

Lodge seems to use coarser sand in their molds now than in years past.

They've had a rough finish for as long as I can remember. Dunno if it's better or worse now. I got all the iron I needed years ago. One thing I semi regret is giving a nurse that was caring for my father an enormous pan. She had a big family, and expressed interest in it. It was really too big for my use, but you know; greed and all :^D Hope she's putting it to good use :^)

Pledge, huh? I think I used that as a kid to buff the piano. Don't remember washing my hands. Probably licked my fingers afterward...

I tried to get some Cope's Dried Sweet Corn today.
I couldn't find it anywhere in Giant or Walmart, and the employees at either place had never heard of it. I'm not even sure what department that stuff's supposed to be in.

I guess I should have done my Thanksgiving shopping two months ago, before Christmas took over.

I'm trying to sell a sewing machine on Craigslist. It's gotten a lot of attention, probably 7 people have contacted me about wanting to buy it... one even tried setting up a time and location. Why the hell do I still have it?

Seems like the more popular something is, the more flakes like to reply.

What first world problem did you have today? Let me see. Between the soreness from physical therapy, walking my ass off in Walmart with said soreness and having a pussy checker take his sweet time or the huge amount of people at the flipping store? I don't know.

I think the biggest today would have to be that pussy looking little Walmart checker. As is the norm with Walmart. Damn near all the check out lines are closed except a hand full. I see one full, the next people have their whole damn thanksgiving dinner and then some. The other lines are backed up the ass and I chose the one line with a checker that took his sweet ass time scanning items. Then when this idiot pulled money out of the drawer? FUCK! Like a snail going through molasses. I just wanted to leap over the freaking counter and rearrange that douchebag's face for him. The manager needs to place him in the back unloading trucks. Or stocking shelves actually.

When I was in high school, I worked at ShopKo as merchandise support team. I unloaded the truck and you have to be quick too. This guy was lacking energy like he didn't even want a flipping job. Ugh!

There are 2 pans I keep in my kitchen:

1. A 10" Lodge cast-iron skillet
2. A 12" T-Fal nonstick skillet

90% of my cooking is done with those two pans. I used to have a full kitchen set, same with knives, but I just don't really use all of that stuff. Cast iron gear is amazing!

Maybe you can answer then... do you season the exterior of the pan? If so, how does it not catch fire?

Sand it down with a rotary sander, season it with high temp oil, and go at it.. :)

I can soak our cast iron pans in dishwater overnight and they won't rust because we've seasoned the entire pan so well the pores are all sealed up. I regularly use a blue scrubber, not green, to clean the dried on egg and cheese mess, but it comes off easily.

I'm trying to sell an AMD AM3+ board, processor, and 4 GB of ram on craigslist for $45. Was contacted yesterday by a very eager person who asked a lot of questions and arranged a time and place to meet. I drive there.. and wait.. texted, emailed.. nothing. After 10 minutes, I finally get a text from him saying he emailed but had changed his mind and wasn't interested.. You guessed it, never got an email or anything. It's not the money, its the time I wasted driving there and waiting to come home empty handed and was rushing around right after work to make it there.

Sold over a dozen items on Craigslist in the past few months. I, luckily, haven't been stood up yet. They usually go no-contact on me before arranging a final meet time.

Post cleanup sort of. That shit is not coming off the wall. I'll have to get one of those magic erasers and give that a shot. Unfortunately those two specks on the speakers of my rokits aren't coming out either. Monitor, cell phone, desk, and all other 'hard' surfaces was no issue. What an idiot.... :D
