My trusty tablet's fan bearings died, and it has fully sealed bearings that can't be oiled to restore them to working condition. I'm leaving for a business trip soon. I didn't hustle on the fans because I could easily throttle back the CPU when I didn't need all of it, and because POS fan bearings are pretty common and easy to oil. I didn't expect to find sealed ones.

Replacements would take 2+ weeks to even ship from China.

So I bought a new tablet. (The original one was a bit sluggish, so it may have been time anyway.)
The new one's USB ports didn't work at all, the soundchip disappeared from Device Manager completely on the first bootup and never came back, and the volume-down button didn't work. It's probably just a loose ribbon cable that a warranty-voiding tablet-opening could take care of.

A replacement, which hopefully sucks less than the first one, will be delivered to the company I'll be at while I'm away.

Since I am not a proud owner of a smartphone or any other Internet-capable portable device, I might need to listen to music on my MP3 player, or.......read....a book. A book printed on paper.

Had to throw out everything I knew about residential circuit breakers today. Apparently, those things trip based on a time-current curve and not insta-off when they hit 15.00000000001 amps.

I live with people who can't stand 30 C temperatures and must have A/C on... it's Canada, it's freaking freezing 3/4 of the entire year, god forbid it be warm here and we can crack a window.

The audio on the UFC 190 feed is like 3 seconds ahead of the video and it is so damn annoying!

New first world problem: Whatever band of jerkoffs that own Leicester City FC won't grant me 50 million pounds even though I promised to win the league (which I will)...

Ordered something from Amazon on Wednesday. Was supposed to arrive Friday. Shipping showed it arriving a day early (Thursday), which never happens, so that was weird. Didn't show up Thursday. Or Friday. Or Saturday. Yesterday, the tracking number was showing it was still due Friday (i can haz flux capacitor?). Today, the tracking number just has an error & doesn't know what's going on. I chatted with Amazon reps & they have no idea and said to wait until Tuesday to report it as MIA & to do a replacement. Amazon & UPS are usually pretty solid for delivery dates, so this is pretty unusual.

TL;DR: Amazon's free 2-day Prime shipping let me down. #firstworldproblems

30C *IS* hot. Anything above 25C requires A/C. 20-25 is perfect weather to be outside or go swimming etc. Anything higher and either have to be in the water all day or in the house in front of A/C. Just walking outside means instant sweating.

We had a heat wave last week, was 30's most of the time, even at night it would only go down to 25 which is still too hot to open windows. I survived though, I do have a portable A/C unit and it got me through but it was really starting to get hot in most of the house. It's times like these I'm glad I work an office job, so at least when I have to go in to work there's A/C. Especially in my building given how critical the equipment is. They put in two 30 ton units in spring, it gets down to like 15 in the equipment room lol. A tad too cold though, they're still in the tweaking phase of the installation. Usually try to keep it at like 19-21ish.

It is hot at 30 C outside, but with windows wide open, it's usually only mid-20s indoors since the sun doesn't hit directly much and the building's insulation does some work.

I didn't have A/C at home as a kid so I can now deal with it pretty well up to 32 C -- don't even need a fan or a window nearby.

Saw Garrison Keillor yesterday. Pretty good show, but I'd have preferred less music, and more character bits. He did Guy Noir, but no lives of the cowboys, or the mother bit. No commercials either. Oh well. Glad I went. He threatened this was the last tour, and it was cool seeing a classic.

The important thing is to give them an opportunity to get over. He said "don't even slow down." No.

Swing around to the right without hesitation and the slowpoke will learn to be afraid of moving right.
Get your slowpoke ass out of the left lane. The only reason people could pass you on the right is that you shouldn't have been in the left lane in the first place. Learn to f'ing drive. <flips bird>

Hmm, internet road rage is better than the real thing! :p

Returned yesterday afternoon from an extended weekend in Tampa full of beaches beers and a wedding. I cannot seem to get back into the 'work' thing this morning. Weird.

Only 30 more years until retirement.

See you at the retirement party? Don't forget your socks and sandals.

We'll see. I might be dead before then. On a side note, The Garrison Keillor show had the most oldsters I've seen outside a funeral home :^D

Might be a reason for that. Garrison was on the air when I was in high school.

I had to learn how Google Plus comments worked on YouTube today... So, I don't need the + sign (mentions?) to reply to comments?

This afternoon, I was offered a most excellent field assignment (massive overtime potential) over in the land of California, starting tomorrow morning. Great, I'll look at flights. <looks at map, realizes that driving would be mo' better for all involved>. Calls back to suggest that I drive instead of fly. "Oh, we found someone local, nevermind." :'(

I tried to mow the lawn but it started raining. Every freaking time. I was able to do a couple strips of the part that was really thick though. I should have just sucked it up and did it with no shirt and tons of sun screen when it was 30+ and just take a cold shower after.

I stopped being able to even comment on videos, the button to submit is just greyed out all the time. Stupid youtube, they've butchered that system so badly since the G+ crap. Well even before it was pretty bad. I hope they fix it when they get rid of G+ which I heard is going to happen soon.
