um.. sorry to hear that you're having a bad day but how is this a 1st world problem?

a 1st world problem might be:
-u bought superbowl tickets at $3k/each before the outcome of the Patriots/colts game.

-but after that game, superbowl tix prices dropped in half due to Patriots fatique. (pats have been to the superbowl 6 times this century. 40% )

-feeling the rage building. this is day 2 in a row. freaking pats/colts game on sun.
cant seem to push it away because of the overspending...

thought I opened up a $25k 5yr cd @ 5% interest in 2010.
(20/20 hindsight, it was an EXCELLANT move on my part, given the current interest rates.)

since it's going to mature next month, I logged into the acct for the 1st time to set it not to auto-renew (1.25% blah). but instead dump the $ into their savings acct.

well, fvck me to see that I only deposited $2500. o_O

downside of having so much $... you don't notice $22.5k more in other accts thus don't catch that you missed a '0' in the xfer amount when creating the CD

1st world problem.... my back is hurting. Because I hurt it running. I was running on a treadmill so I can be more fit. I am trying to be more fit so I can fit in with the 1st world image more properly. My back probably tweaked because I've been doing a lot of Yoga to relieve my 1st world stress and in doing so my scoliosis in my spine has probably been correcting thus loosening up my supportive spinal tissue. Anyways... I am now taking a lot of Aleve.

surgery fixes scoliosis.
fuse a flexible titanium rod and your spine will stand up straight.
and you'll grow 2" instantly!

I stepped on the brand new $50 battery charger (effing OEM lithium-ion, device only included a USB cable) I bought days ago but just took out of the box.

I am pretty sure that a big part of the rise of mobile devices is because almost everyone does want a dumb appliance instead of a hard to use and "emotional" PC that has viruses and freedom. Heck I am happy that Android is as open as it is seeing as how it will be the Windows of the future.

If you really want Gnu on a phone why not hunt down a Jolla phone?
This is the phone I really want...

http://neo900.org/

So far it's just vaporware, but I'm keeping an eye on the project. I get Sprint service free through work, so I use whatever they support. If I could get the *exact* phone I wanted, I could see paying for my own service.
How much of your life have you wasted on fonts, themes, and wallpapers? That's the FWP... :p

I played around with fonts and themes a little bit with Win95A back in '96/'97. Now I've got some mental condition where almost anything that's not vanilla / standard / default is revolting to me.

I dislike most "standard" sans fonts, especially Android. What is it on Samsung? Roboto, and Samsung Sans? Feels like I'm reading the ingredient list from a box of cereal. Functional for sure, but about as bland as it comes. I'll see what it takes to package flipfonts for Samsung, and other devices that use that tech, and if I can get it going, I'll package all the fonts from the OpenFontLibrary

Holy 2011 Batman. Dude that is a dead end. Gnu on mobile in 2015 is either what Mark Shuttleworth is willing to throw money at or Sailfish. Sailfish is pretty cool, Meego given a second life after Nokia dumped it. I would love a Jolla tablet:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/jolla-tablet-world-s-first-crowdsourced-tablet

I would never give up Android on my phone because that is my primary compute device and I need maximum functionality (Android is near OSX to me on that point). But I would love a mobile version of my all Gnu desktop. I am sad that mobile has less of a chance of Gnu in the phone space due to locked bootloader, so tablets are the real hope. I love the hardware of my iPad Air 2 but this toy OS kills me.

I like the hardware keyboard on the neo900. For me, that makes up for a lot of hardware deficiencies. I don't have a lot of use for a tablet. My phone has taken over that aspect. For something bigger, I prefer my netbook.

I'm very interested in the Ubuntu phone, and think the grand vision of the original kickstarter is the way things are headed(phone/desktop combo). I just hope that when it happens, it isn't a locked down appliance that only lets you do what the company allows.

Speaking of first world problems, I think the fact that hardware keyboards have died off in smartphones certainly counts. I think you have to let that one go for now, there are none that are planned that we know about. That phone you linked can't even happen, it has hardware (OMAP) that is completely discontinued. The best keyboard phone ever is going to be some random cheap LG that sucks (the F3Q). What is wrong with a bluetooth keyboard? I got a nice Apple one I can connect to the tablet or phone to really bang something out. Pretty much equals a netbook, except the on the couch reading experience for all the times you don't want to type is like 10 times better. And the typing is better because typing on a netbook sucks. Heck add a bluetooth or usb mouse in Android plus a HDMI adaptor and there is your desktop on a phone today. Android has great USB support, I was just using my real SNES controllers on the Prime the other day.

I just hope that when it happens, it isn't a locked down appliance that only lets you do what the company allows.

I am pretty sure we will always have root/jailbreak/etc. Now that it has DMCA protection even Apple has stopped caring about trying hard to beat jailbreaks. New iOS updates don't patch old hacks, etc. In fact the worst offender now is probably the biggest Android maker- Samsung. On the biggest carriers their flagships are bootloader locked in a way that hasn't been reliably beaten in far too long. That doesn't matter if you are on T-Mobile, which means it matters for most of the country. I think overall in Android though there will always be some Nexusy option that you can pay full price and get unlocked. The market demands it.

How I spent over 45 minutes in the McDonald's drive-thru again:

A woman in an Impala right in front of me asked for "hot fries," as if they make fries to order or would drop a single order of fries into the fryer. I've been seeing more and more people requesting "hot" or "fresh" fries recently, as if that was a thing. This isn't In-n-Out Burger, lady! She held me up every step of the way because her window didn't roll down properly but she was actually the least of my problems.

Next, the drive-thru order-taking jockey rang up the sandwich and large drink as a combo with a full-priced drink + $0.20 up charge for large. He asked me if it was correct and I told him "no, I don't want a combo." Drinks alone are any size for $1 right now but normal price in a combo, so it's a rip off even before the up charge.

I also asked for a pack of chocolate chip cookies specifically "if you have them ready," which means that I am not willing to wait for them as they often ask you to do after you have already paid. The only reason I even stopped there was because my brother asked me to pick him up a drink and I added on because I hadn't eaten since the start of my shift 14 hours earlier.

I watched as the combo was removed, the large drink appeared again without being indented, and the cookies were added, but it disappeared before I could see anything else other than the total. Sure enough, I get to the first window and my receipt shows that I was charged $1.59 for the drink. The guy never came back to the window so I had to pull forward and talk to the guy at the next window. I simply asked if they were still doing any size drinks for a dollar "because I was charged $1.59 even though it's not a combo." Without saying a word in reply, he took my receipt and disappeared. A manager appeared several minutes later who apologized and handed me exactly 60 cents, even though I was taxed 7.5% on 59 cents and didn't pay with cash. Of course, I graciously accepted without mentioning that because it was a hell of a lot better than the 60% extra they tried to charge me earlier and I just wanted to leave.

I still had to wait for my food. When I finally got it the guy told me that it would be another two and a half minutes on the cookies. I asked if he needed me to pull into the designated parking but he told me to just pull up to the corner and he would bring them right out. He forgot to give me my drink which had been sitting there since he first went to get the manager, so I had to get him to open the window again before finally pulling up to the corner.

Like the drive-thru, the path around the corner is a single-lane with a curb. The corner is so close to the drive-thru that there simply isn't enough room for a car to pull past the drive-thru curb, around my car, and into the path around the corner. I had to pull forward for each car to exit the drive-thru so they could pass on my right and then I would have to back up to allow them around the corner. I had to jockey like this CONSTANTLY for 15 minutes when I could have just pulled into one of the spaces reserved for this crap... all because some genius thought it would be ready much faster (I knew better from experience). Well, the other idiot who didn't check the cookies when I asked him to must bear some of that blame. I wouldn't have had to wait for them at all if it weren't for his screw up.

I am also convinced that I would have found a parking space at my brother's place if I got there sooner. As it was, I had to park on the street and walk only to find that my brother, whose request for a large Diet Coke prompted all this, was asleep.

I watched as the combo was removed, the large drink became left-aligned, and the cookies were added, but it disappeared before I could see anything other than the total. Sure enough, I get to the first window and my receipt shows that I was charged $1.59 for the drink. The guy never came back to the window so I had to pull forward and talk to the guy at the next window. The drive thru and the path around the corner has a single-lane curb and the corner is so close to the drive thru that there simply isn't enough room for a car to pull past the drive thru curb, around my car, and into the single-lane width path to go around the building. I had to pull forward for each car to exit the drive thru and pass on my right and then back up to allow them access to the path around the front. I had to jockey like this CONSTANTLY for 15 minutes when I could have just pulled out of the drive thru and into one of the spaces reserved for this crap on the right... and all because some genious thought it would be ready much faster than it was (I knew better from experience). CZroe, I have had your exact problem in pretty much every fast food restaurant I've been to in Georgia and Alabama. Every single time. The only exception was Taco Bell, who had their shit on point at 5AM.

Taco Bell does seem to be the only place here that actually has speedy service.

I'm on vacation and just arrived back In the states this morning. My ride won't be here to pick me up for an hour. FML.

I couldn't sleep for shit on the overnight flight like usual thanks to being stuffed in a box with 800 other people so I'm going on 2 days of being awake.
