Had to get up "early" this morning to wait for my package. It'll arrive between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Need to drive back home two hours away from my GF's place to check on my apartment and pick up my paycheck from work, but I'm feeling lazy. This is what vacation does to you, and I still have another week and a half :awe:

Webcam & direct deposit or app check-scanning FTW

cute guy on the subway was making eyes at me... couldn't tell if he was a young-looking teacher or an old looking high school junior/senior :\

(he got on the stop that I know is right outside of a private high school and was carrying a backpack... had on black shoes and black pants, but he had a jacket so I couldn't see if he was wearing a regular sport coat or a school uniform)

Heated up my food in the microwave and when I got back to my desk realized it wasn't hot enough. Don't feel like walking back all the way to the kitchen so I'm eating a lukewarm meal today. :|

It's not insanely funny, but I did literally "lol" at this. :awe:

It was so weird. Treadmill was playing Toronto news this morning and everyone looked normal-sized to slim. :hmm:

I had a BLT for lunch and the mayo they used was too sweet. D: Is it so fucking hard to use real mayonnaise you cocksuckers!

Bah, my first net pay of 2015 was $446 lower because of all of the annual contribution amounts starting up again. :\

KT

Do you front-load your contributions and to what degree?

I"ve been thinking that if I max the 401k and wife and my Roth IRAs in the first few months I'll get the added interest of having invested toward the beginning of the month.

my first check of 2015 is lower by $36 :(

health insurance premiums go up the first of the year, but yearly raises don't happen until mid-April, so I'll be dealing with a lower paycheck till then.

After reading about someone's check being lower, I had to actually check mine. Increase! I don't even check if I got paid anymore or how much it is supposed to be.

Tried to find an articulating wall mount for my center-studded alcove Pioneer 6020FD and Panasonic ZT65 plasmas that could be mounted off-center but be centered with the sliding mount. Finally found the Sanus VLF515. First world problem solved.

Why do OEMs STILL ship with HDDs by default in systems? Everything should be SSD by now, Spindle drives are for mass storage raid arrays, that's it. Working on this Asus EEE computer for someone, it's a nice little machine for what it's geared for, but OMG the hard drive is so SLOW! Would it really have been that much harder for them to put a SSD? It would also improve power efficiency even more. They're not even more expensive than the smallest HDD you can buy.

Of course OEMs can default to something crappy then make the non crappy version premium pricing even though it does not cost them more. Such bull crap.

They're cheap as shit. And saying a computer includes a 2 TB drive is better than saying it includes 256 GB but runs faster. Also, you can add in a $200 "upgrade" path if you default to HDD. In short, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Honestly, most people probably don't know what a difference it makes. I will personally never go back now that SSDs have come down so much in price -- I can get a 256 GB for what I paid for my 120 GB 2 years ago.

Trying to get new fonts on my phone. Why the fuck does it have to be so abstracted that I need to "install" them via apk?! I found some that are installable, but I don't know what most of the licenses are, and they aren't the ones I want. I have the extra delight of dicking around with the built-in Flipfont font manager, and I don't know how it works. If I want to use the fonts I like, I'll have to learn how to package them myself. So much more convenient than copying them to the /fonts directory :^S

Edit:
Found the font I wanted prepackaged. Averia Libre. I still need to learn how to package fonts though. I don't want to rely on luck for setting up my system.

I actually prefer when they put a regular HDD, assuming it's replaceable. I would just put my own. New Dell XPS 13 comes with a 128GB SSD, and upcharge for 256GB is + $200 on Canadian site. For that price I can buy Samsung 850Pro, or 512GB MX100 (and still keep the original 128GB SSD). Not to mention that the factory part could be some bottom-of-the-rung 2-3 generations old disk that you're paying like it's 850Pro...
