The worst are the sites that force new passwords every few months. I ain't remembering those.

AHAHAHA.....

This is a sign of old age... and also using the same password across all sites.
I keep telling my mom "No". yet she says what's the point in the password if you forget it?

Lol I like your Mom. Pics? 😀

Equifax and the SC dept of revenue are 2 that make me change every quarter and can't use a repeat. I've been open 16 years...yeah, good luck with my 57yo brain.

I use an external password manager for anything important. It's less convenient and requires extra steps, but the database format is well supported on multiple platforms, and there's redundancy if one of the programs ceases to exist. I don't quite trust firefox's newer lockwise password manager, with the autogenerated passwords. I don't fully understand how it works, and had a couple rocky episodes when I tried to use it. I prefer creating/generating a password, reviewing it, then explicitly storing it with no "magic" going on in the background.

Just added sirius xm to the phone. The pass had the normal requirements, 8-20, cap/lower/number, no part of email or name and....no common words or names...good luck with me ever remembering that. Going in the doc asap.

That was autogenerated, and not as complex as it could have been. If you accept it, you can store it with the other relevant info, then you only have to remember one password to unlock the database.

Had to enter my car through the trunk when leaving a store three hours ago. Lock was glitching. It was raining.

But at least I had the rear seat-back unlatched so I could reach in from the trunk, and pop a lock on the rear door.

I do have a couple passwords I use for things I don't give a crap about and don't have personal information in beyond my name. (if that)

I finally broke down and use Norton's password manager which actually works pretty well for important sites.

lol. I went from using 2 different password manager apps to using Google cloud to now pretty much using Apple iCloud now I'm pretty much using everything Apple. My life is so much simpler after I let Apple manage my life. I pay little more to use Apple but sometimes paying more is worth it for your sanity.

Reminds me of my workplace, so many freaking passwords and they all expire at certain intervals so it's hard to keep them in sync.

I used to use the same password across all sites but it seems every site is being hacked now days and a surprising amount of sites use clear text passwords or usalted MD5 so I use a different one for each site now. It's a pain having to go to my password manager each time but most of the sites I use all the time like forums remember it anyway.

I don't like relying on cloud services, I feel a lack of control. They could pull the plug or make changes and pull the rug from under me essentially. I just wrote my own password manager, I wanted something web based that is self hosted and that does not rely on any specific locally installed software, so that it works from any browser on my network or if I VPN in.

And… the sellers rejected the offer without explanation and the realtor dropped them.
This time we made it to the point where the sellers signed the contract and we opened escrow. Now we’ll have to see if the sellers can keep their feces bundled through closing.

Buying a house in the crazy real estate areas sounds like such a nightmare. I got a tiny taste of that even here just buying recreational land but it's WAY worse down south where there are bidding wars on houses and they end up going like 100k over asking. Insanity. WFH becoming more widespread is kind of a double edge sword as it ends up spreading this problem to smaller cities too. My realtor told me one guy bought at least 50 properties here so far. For the price of one house in Toronto you can own like half the city here. All fun and games until that tax bill comes in though... Our taxes are actually higher than Toronto and probably most of the GTA.

I got lucky with my house a bit over 10 years ago. The market was starting to heat up a bit but it was not too crazy yet. Now finding a house under 200k is pretty hard unless it's a former meth lab that blew up and you're just buying it for the land and whatever pieces of lumber survived.

TBH I'm surprised the thieves have not started stealing lumber off people's houses or sheds yet. There are lot of jokes about it but I have not heard of it actually happening. I guess there is not really a resell market for lumber like there is for steel, copper, etc.

my teeth are falling apart on me.
The Navy gives shit dental care and its illegal to see a doctor or dentist on your own if you dont have permission from your C.O. which is of course is never granted.
I cannot afford good dental insurance thanks to Obama and the cost of dental care in America is ridiculous thanks to the "success of capitalism".

So yeah, fuck my life.

I think my current dental plan - which I upgraded from basic to enhanced due to work I had to have done - only covers something like $1500 or $2000 per year. That may sound like a lot, but it adds up quickly if you have to have anything above a filling and obviously won't cover things like veneers. I upgraded the insurance a couple of years ago because I had to have some work done and while it covered much of the surgery, I still had to pay around half out of pocket. I decided to get veneers and that was completely out of pocket and not cheap ($4200 for 6 teeth which was actually reasonable).

My advice? Employers are desperate for people, so look at other jobs which may have dental insurance included or for a reasonable price.

My dental has coverage of 2k per family member a year. Wife needs two crowns.. that including root canals, posts and cores.. a little over $1800. Plus a night guard since she grinds her teeth so that is another $250.

My mom just finished her 5th visit to the dentist this year. I paid $26,295 for those 5 visits. She has 2 more visits left this year before her dental treatment is finished. Next visit won't be too bad as it's only $740. But her final visit cost? That visit will cost me another $23,322. In total, I will have paid $50,357 so she can get couple implants and bridges on top and bottom teeth. I told her I could've bought new Tesla Model 3 with that money, but I love her more so I'm investing in her teeth and health. I told her to thank Elon for her new teeth.

That's more money than I paid for 40 acres of land. That's insane. I don't get why dental can't be covered under the normal health care system. I have a plan through work but there is a limit. If I needed that much work done I think my plan would run out.

Our country is completely fucked when it comes to health care. More than half the country realizes it and wants reform but a small vocal minority has brainwashed people into believing that giving people free health care is the first step toward communism.

The guy I'm using is expensive but he does great work so I'm willing to pay. I could've shopped and probably found someone to do the work for half the cost. But it's my mom and her comfort and health. So cost was secondary. I wanted top quality work, and someone who would back their work if there's any problem.

My mom has Medicare but I never looked into what it covered as far as dental. I assume it doesn't cover much but I don't think this dentist accepts Medicare anyway. He's high end, and he needs to charge high because his office, equipment, and facilities are top notch. It's the nicest dental office I've been to.
