I hate holidays. Just means another day of not getting specific chores done. Xmas, Thanksmurdering, MLK and that really Presidents day are all a bunch of BS.
In Mississippi it's not MLK, it's now Great Americans Day. THE MORE YOU KNOW (insert rainbow)

I have an antimatter fwp. The USPS is delivering a package for me today, on MLK day . . . a federal holiday . . . when they are supposedly not working. What wizardry is this? I at least hope that they're getting time and a half or something.

Holidays are great especially if you work shifts. When you work on a holiday it's like double time and a half. FTW! For non shift work they're great too as it gives a long weekend.

That's just Biloxi as far as I know. They also get Confederate Memorial Day off, or at least they used to.

FML. Inquiring about commercial insurance in Canada and it's more trouble than it should be. Contacted two agents, only one got back to me and won't cover everything I want. In contrast, I've found exactly what I need from American insurers in a neat package.

I booted into Linux a couple months ago and haven't missed Windows 10. But I kinda forgot, since i mostly use it for internet at home, and use a Windows VM for any work-from-home stuff.

So when I opened a .docx file, Word looked "weird" and I was temporarily confused.

I had to put up with my family bickering back and forth over my 16 year old nephew after he totaled "his" Mustang driving like a dumbshit. Luckily he didn't hurt anyone (and he's ok too). 2nd car he's totaled in almost the last 6 months. But everyone wants to blame someone else for why he acts like a jackass.

Finally uninstalled Battlefield 1. Been meaning to do it for various reasons. Got addicted to it but wasn't really enjoying it. I got a problem...

So he should be mature enough to buy his own car and pay for insurance and maintenance and gas.

When I turned 17, my birthday present was that my dad cosigned a loan for a 1989 Pontiac LeMans. He said if I missed a payment they'd never find my body. Kids shouldn't get a new car unless they buy it themselves.

Kids shouldn't own cars. When I was in school, I didn't have much money but I wasn't poor. Then I bought a car. Then I was poor.

I went to a wetland yesterday to photograph sandhill cranes. There were thousands of them, honking, flapping, wheeling in the sky, gathered on the ground in flocks of hundreds. I'm learning to digiscope with a new spotting scope. Through the scope, the birds look incredible. The photos all came out like fever dreams. With heavy cropping, maybe two usable pics. :(

Looks like I donated 76¢ to a bank. I let the balance of a prepaid card drop to that, and it doesn't look like I can get rid of it. Everything seems to have a minimum of $1 for online payment.

I'm in a free loaner car from the car dealership this week, and not only does it not have keyless entry, it also doesn't have push to start.

how do people live having to use the key fob and car key every day like a plebian? super annoying having to break my habit of throwing my keys in my backpack and forgetting about them until I get home from work.

A better threat is something like, 'the next time anyone will see you is in a can of Alpo.' Although it helps if you first make them believe you have mob connections.

the bank won't get it, it will escheat to the state and they will keep it in some fund for some indefinite period of time to see if anyone claims it. I suppose eventually the state itself can take the money but I think it's a while before that happens.

had to fire the douche bag that was orignally supposed to install my water heater. Kept dicking me around all weekend then yesterday didn't come when he said. Ended up pushing the appt back 5 hours. So I told him to go f*** himself and got someone else to do the job. Fortunately the new guy was able to come today since I was starting to get a little ripe.

I totally frickin forgot about it until a couple hours ago but I gotta renew my driver's license and vehicle registration today cause it's my birthday. Ugh... I took the dang form they sent in the mail off from my desk and put it in my bills folder, so outta-sight-outta-mind and I forgot about it. And of course I have an Enhanced Driver's License so I can't renew that online. Frickin pain in the ass. I'm glad I only have to deal with this crap once a year.

I don't have ad blocker on this computer so I'm seeing Bentley ads on the forum. Who knew Bentley makes a hatchback?

Went to the post office to buy a stamp. I needed one stamp, but had to buy a minimum of 3 using my credit card. Those assholes.

I found out they film Lucifer in Vancouver -- maybe with some in LA. That explains all those jackets in what should be a desert. Fooling people with their yellow-ish exterior filter.

And I remembered why I hate shopping at bookstores: can't find shit. Good for browsing, terrible for finding the one copy of a book on an entire floor that can be shelved in more than one section.

Worked on an XP system today. Symptoms were no network connectivity and a pop up (among many) that there was an ip address conflict. The balloon stating a delayed write failed was a giveaway. The box had 0MB of free space available. Then I entered printer hell with an HP colorsmart 4450 with cartridges so dried out that the ink was caked everywhere.

I could be doing man shit with equipment in below freezing temps like my buddy but I feel this qualifies as a first world problem.

I got violently ill last night. I almost called 911. I think it was some chicken I ate the night before. Sub optimal night.
