My birthday was Monday. My wife bought me a Reese's blizzard cake from Dairy Queen. Good lord it is good. In fact it should be borderline illegal. Bottom layer is Reese's blizzard, a thick layer of fudge with the cake/ice cream sprinkles on top of that, then a layer of vanilla ice cream and frosting on top of that. The guy said to let it sit out for a bit before we slice it. Did that and then put the rest back in the freezer so that it not melt and refreeze and turn all yucky.

Our freezer is pretty full and apparently the ice cream cake put it over the critical mass. Went in the garage on Tuesday, heard an alarm from the freezer. Opened it and found this

My wife said the first thing I said after I stopped crying was, "hey the guy gave us a $4 coupon off our next cake so we can use that to get a new one".
Hope you learned your lesson, and finish the next one in one sitting :^D

The condensation drip tray in my AC seems to be leaking and its outlet line was partially clogged. I removed the line and put a 5 gallon bucket under the tap. I put a line of silicone caulk around the outsides of three sides of the air handler, leaving the side facing the drain alone. I then made a little canal on the concrete floor out of caulk, leading to the drain.

Seems to be working and interestingly it almost perfectly filled up a 5 gallon bucket in 24 hours. I have a guy coming out Friday to look at it. I'm tempted to just seal up the fourth side and install a new outlet line myself, but I'm paranoid that something horrible is going on inside there that I'd be hiding away.

My roof is leaking again... was hoping the last fix worked, I let the roofers know this morning. At this point I hope they cover the damage as it's beyond just a small drywall patch job now, the insulation 's starting to mold.

I needed some electrical wire for a project. Looked on Facebook Marketplace. Someone was selling what I needed for $20. It would have been a 25-minute drive each way there and back. Amazon had the wire for $35 delivered next day. I just ordered it from Amazon because I couldn't be bothered to drive 50 minutes, set up a pick up time, go get cash, all to save $15.

Well yeah your time is worth more than 18 per hour.

at least it's raining here so my AC outage is not too uncomfortable.

Or let in every mosquito between calgary and toronto.
Probably hasn’t made it to your part of the country yet…but they’ve invented these window things that incorporate a fine screen mesh that allows you to open your windows while keeping most insects out.

Gas isn't free either. Also, dealing with random local flakes. There's an 80% chance it turns into a needless hassle because people can't simply act normal. $15 isn't anywhere close to enough for dealing with random facebook users.

I got jalapeños today for my vegetable bowl, and they're the nuclear variety. Can't tell what kind you're gonna get til you try them. Might be nuclear, might be green peppers. I like them in the middle for eating raw.

I was into chili stuff a while (mostly green chili) but after dealing with burning fingers and lips and not seeing much health benefit (chilies are supposed to contain an ingredient that rejuvenates cells), I gave up on them. I also tried cayenne pepper capsules for a while to rev up my metabolism. Also didn't seem to help much. One doc told me that these things can irritate and inflame the liver so that's one more reason why never going back to eating them.

I like hot stuff, even extreme hot, but I prefer it mellower for eating raw. I have some hot sauces that could strip paint, but my favorite is habanero. Nice and fruity with good heat that's easy to control.

Here, all I seem to find is the “green bell pepper” variety of jalapenos. I prefer a good amount of heat.

Peppers contain more vitamin c than oranges (by weight)…plus the capsaicin has health benefits. Every time one of us comes down with something like a cold, we hit the “hot and spicy” pretty hard. I like jalapenos deep dried, on the flat top, or on the bbq.

To my tastbuds, habs and the other chinense varieties aren’t at all fruity. The annuum species (jalapeno, serrano, fresno, etc.) are the sweet, fruity chiles for me. (regardless of heat level)
