Gotta join a staff meeting via Teams that starts at 8am central time. 6am my time. This is some bullshit.
I can imagine AND sympathize. My normal work day is from 3 PM to 11 PM. But I have to end up taking meetings at 10 AM via Teams. Ruins my whole day. One could say whole week (6 days for me) coz you really need a day off to deal with the resulting grogginess and mind blur.

There was a big spider on the coffee machine at work, and my coffee was already pouring when I noticed it, tried to kill it with my finger but missed and it got away and I lost track of it. Hopefully it won't end up in my next coffee lol.

Just pulled a fucking tick nymph off my crotch. It was <1mm long, and already bit in. I now have a red spot I'll have to keep an eye on. I sprayed the spot with hand sanitizer for whatever that's worth. I don't even know where I got it. I just got back to work, and haven't been in brush. Might've gotten them from petting Spot, but I doubt that. I did pull some nymphs off her face. Ticks have been bad this year. The cold winter I thought would knock them down seems to have helped them, or at least not hurt them in the least.

Better get to the ER asap, they can treat that before it's too late. Bring the tick with you so it can be sent for testing. There were rumours that we might have them here a few years ago, but have not heard much since. Thankfully it's not really a thing here, but ever since I heard of them I try to avoid letting vegetation touch me in case there might be some. I also avoid doing anything that could shake a tree that I'm under.

Ticks are a part of life here. You just deal with them. All a doctor would do is proactively give you antibiotics(doxycycline?), and that causes photosensitivity, which is a no-go outside unless it's really needed.

Bent over to pick up some laundry to throw into the washer...felt something kind of "pop" in my knee...and a lightning bolt shot up my thigh. Not sure if I just pulled a muscle or what...but it still fckn hurts like a bastage.

That's a sign that you're starting to get old.

That ship's sailed around the world a few times, and was scrapped out in an Indian scrapyard.

Had a bunch of ants on my computer desk this morning. I eat there, but there wasn't too much stray food. I wiped it down, then rubbed eastern red cedar oil into the top(It's a cheap pine art table). They apparently don't like that. They avoid the sections that were oiled. I'm gonna have to keep that in mind to try other places. Might be a good non toxic way to keep ants away.

I once placed some chicken bones for the cats about 5.5 feet high. Was too lazy and thought I would go out later and give the bones to the cats. I had placed food there before and never gotten ants. Then I fell asleep (probably food coma) and when I woke up, I could smell the chicken bones in the air. Went to look and there was a whole line of ants going up to that place and feasting on the bones. Never put uncovered bones anywhere in my room again.

Ants are assholes. I don't like spraying chemicals, and bait traps are a hassle finding exactly what kind of bait your particular ants like. Every summer they get on my kitchen counter, and I just try to work around them. First year I got them, I tried wiping them up with a damp rag. Gotta run out of ants sometime, right? Apparently not. They're like the Borg. There's no end to them, and they just keep coming :^S I deal with them, and pray for winter. This is the first time they got on my computer desk.

They wander into my room during early summer, I don't bother about them since it's just a few scout ants I think. They look around for food, can't find any and leave me alone till the next summer.

The body work on my truck is racking up a bill, up to $2500 now. Was originally quoted $1200 but the more he works on it the further he has to go as it's worse than he thought.

Considering I paid 5k for the truck even if I end up putting a couple extra grand into it I guess it's not that terrible. Will get me by long enough to pay off my debt and then save up to buy new.

I hear bleach might work. They leave a scent trail which then causes other ants to follow so the bleach will kill off that trail. Duct tape turned upside down can also catch all sorts of bugs and give you an idea of what you have crawling around.

Also just realized that my hornet problem in the basement just stopped on it's own, no idea what that was about, I was finding several hornets per day down there. I'm thinking they may have been bored inside some firewood or something, but it's weird that it only started in spring and not when I originally brought the wood in. I split a log the other day and it was FULL of ants. I opted not to bring those indoors lol. That's the thing with wood got to watch not to bring anything nasty in the house. Something like carpenter ants would be bad news, I think those were regular ants but won't chance it. We thankfully don't have termites here, those can be bad too. They will literally eat your house until it collapses.
