I think the jewelry store is fine. They're about to get more room for customer parking and not going to have druggies loitering in the area anymore so that's a plus. That's kind of the going joke around here every time a downtown building burns down. They'll level it if it's not fit to be repaired and it just ends up being public parking space.
Do you have any evidence that the building was used by drug dealers or is it pure speculation on your part?

I was exposed to a Red Squirrel post. That immediately causes an IQ drop, and thus is a first-world problem.

This was a well known location. I'm not sure if it was still active as of before the fire as I have not been by there in a while but I used to walk by it all the time and see the zombies lining up. Open door, hand cash, get a little bag. Was like clockwork. I always kind of laughed at how it was done right in the open, nobody in power really cares.

The correct route depends upon which side of the street the starting point and ending point are located. Whichever yields fewer left turns is the better route.
Honestly, I never thought of this, and you make a valid point, but she's not thinking anything close to this. You used logic well here, her reasoning isn't based on anything that makes sense.

I'm still here nearly 11 years later and I think about that moment every time the thread comes up.
Reminds me of that clip I used to see on Sesame Street where a girl painstakingly makes a fruit salad and all her siblings come and start eating it and she scoops over and gets the cherry on top.

Ordered a Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich from Popeyes on Uber Eats, I didn't pay attention and for some reason it routed the order to a location that's about 15 miles away. There are 4 that are closer, and I was less than a mile from the one I thought it was ordering from. I didn't realize until it said the order was ready. I'm on an electric scooter, my scooter can go about 60 miles but I'm not doing all that shit for a chicken sandwich.

I went back in the app to place another order at the one I was headed to, and of course, now it was ordering from the right one. Uber uses GPS when you look up spots, so I wonder why it decided to pick that one when there are 4 that are closer. My whole reason for using Uber was they have a $4 deal right now, SAVE 2 BUCKS WOOPWOOP. But since I ended up ordering 2 to actually get 1, I paid $9 instead of $6. I'm a horrible shopper...

At least the sandwich was good, you never know what you'll get with all the Popeyes around here.

Our payroll system is being updated. IT took it down last night and brought it back up as scheduled this next Tuesday morning, maybe.

My DeWalt saw's dust output doesn't directly connect to my DeWalt shopvac's input. They're very slightly different, so I'm paying way too much for an adapter so that I don't just end up constantly taping and removing the thing. Maybe I should just heat gun some thin PVC.

Just realized iphones suck for long term users.

After you can't update ios anymore.. you can't even download your bank apps to stay up to date. I wouldn't have complained about not having the latest game apps but no bank of america app? Seriously?

I'm done buying any Apple product!

This is the problem with phone apps and the mobile ecosystem as a whole. It's all built around planned obsolescence and very short term thinking. Worse is when you buy a product, and it requires an app just to use it. If your phone is too old you can't install it, or if that app becomes unavailable at some point or stops being updated for newer phones when you do upgrade, the product is a paperweight.

At least with Android you have 3rd party stores and it's also possible to side load, but that does not solve the issue of products that require an app, since they never make it available as an apk so there's no real way to keep a local copy of it. Some people have found a way to convert play store apps to an apk and make them available on a 3rd party site, but don't know if I would trust that it's genuine when downloading from a 3rd party like that.

Yeah not with your finances anyways.

I think I'm going to be a very happy LMDE user because it just works no matter how old the hardware!

They updated the application we use to call out techs, and for some stupid reason it doesn't include cell numbers. Only office number, which is useless off hours, and land line, which most people don't have and if they do, waking up their entire family in middle of the night is not my first choice when calling out someone, I prefer to do their cell first. Called everyone that does have a landline while I was not able to call the others. I think this trouble will have to wait until the morning.

I used to work the night shift at a datacenter and this was always a mess. IDK why they couldn't set up some sort of system where I called the same number and it auto forwarded to whomever was on call that day. I had to call a guy a few times one night and on the last one he cursed me out. Unfortunately for him, there were a bunch of managers on the line when he called the datacenter back that last time and he just dove right into his tirade.
