Mobile devices have shit battery management. I want to be able to micromanage charge levels, and rate of charge, but all you get is "LoL, I'll turn charging off after a couple days at 100%. If I remember...". I'm thinking about getting a couple of these...

Seems legit, and it even has basic functionality without installing a (cr)app. Bullshit that I have buy $50 in devices to get functionality that should be built in. The other option is to try rooting. That would probably work for my newest phone, but I have a few old androids that would be good enough for internet radio, and other trivial tasks. They probably aren't rootable, or I'd have to figure it out myself, and I'm not that skilled.

Somewhat related... My new phone has a glacial charging rate off of computer usb. I actually love that, but I wonder why it charges so much slower than my old Motorola? I want to charge as slowly as possible, just keeping up with demand would be best. I can leave this one plugged in, go out for a bit, and it isn't at 100% when I get back. Also, I'm getting more used to the side finger unlock button. It's still inferior to rear unlock, but I think it'll be better with a case. Hopefully it comes in tomorrow. I'm also posting this stuff for @highland145's benefit.

The charger that came with my phone charges very fast, but it's so bad on the battery to do that. I leave that one at work as it gets less use then home. If I plug it in I always check the phone and if it's getting hot I unplug it. Wish there was a way within the phone OS to limit the charge rate actually. I get like 3 days on a charge so I only really top up once in a while throughout the day.

My new phone's unusual in that it's meant to be a home internet connection, but I shortstroke my primary phone also. I charge it to 70%, and it seldom drops below 40%. It isn't essential that I do so, but I'll top it off 5%-10% at a time if I'm sitting near a computer, and I always use computer usb due to the slow charging. I have a cable in the truck that charges fast, but I could count the times I use it in a year on one hand. It's only there for intense gps and bluetooth use, where the screen's on a long time, or all the radios are going; eg long trips.

For something like that wonder if it would make sense to pull the battery completely and then run it with a constant voltage supply directly. It's hard to open up phones now days without special tools though so probably best not to mess with it.

I might actually do something similar once I decide to setup internet on my off grid land actually. Either that or some sort of 4G modem. Cheaper than Starlink. If I lived there permanently then I'd get Starlink.

I've thought of running phones without battery. It's an interesting idea, but having a battery is pretty cool. If power glitches, it'll stay up. It doesn't even require a good battery for "ups" purposes. There's no reason a cell phone couldn't work for 10-20 years in some capacity if you properly care for the battery from the start.

I reviewed some belts I got from amazon, and they said if I reviewed four more products I bought, they'd give me a joke. Well, I wrote the reviews, and I didn't get my fucking joke. RIP OFF! Not as advertised. One star!

My moto g stylus 5g android 13 has a slow charge thing at night. It figures out when you usually start using the phone and charge at lower amperage to full at that time.

Unacceptable. I don't charge overnight, and I never want my battery at 100%. 50% is ideal for battery health. I charge to 70% out of convenience. I have an alarm set so I unplug it when it gets to 70%. That's bullshit. The phone already has everything needed to charge to any arbitrary percentage, and to allow it to drop to any arbitrary percentage before charging resumes, but it isn't provided to the user.

Slow charging to 100% is fine since so called 100% is really more like 80%.

Slow charging to 100% is a tradeoff. It's for convenience. Charging to lower percentage is better, and since I have a huge battery and only need a fraction of what it provides, I choose to charge at a lower percentage. My last phone was 4 years old when I got rid of it, and I doubt anyone would've known the battery degraded it was so slight. I should be given that functionality built into the phone, but since manufacturers are fuckwits, or perhaps think their users are(They may be right more often than not), I have to buy a hardware solution. Which I did. I should be getting the chargie x2 early next week.

Why is everything a fucking argument with you? It's always a stupid argument too. You take a retarded position and hold on like a rabid pitbull. I like my stuff to last as long as possible, and I don't like discarding electronics because of a problem I created. That's because I'm not a self centered prick that shits up my environment because I'm too lazy to do what's right. Though my poor little arms get tired, and my back's bent, I carry all that extra battery Because. I. Care...

LoL I still have my minicomponent from early 90s. I keep my shit a long time as well. I am on the third battery on my Honor 8. The battery gets recycled. It's not my main phone, I just use it at home.

Supposedly LCBO is on strike and I don't have alcohol in the house. Oh noes!

Not sure if this affects the grocery stores or not. I'm sure they'll be out in quick order either way as everyone goes to raid the shelves lol.

I needed to work on the wifes car thins morning so I went to get my tools together before I went to get her car. Fisrt of all I noticed that I left a few tools at work. No biggie. I would be driving past my work to get her car. I went to get my floor jack, jack stands and tire irons out. I went to where I keep them( always together, it makes sense). There's my tire irons, no jack stands and the floor jack is gone. The bottle jacks are still there. All of my ramps are there...Just my jack and jackstands are gone.

Now I have to buy new ones.
