I forgot to get celery from aldi, so I had to go to walmart to pick some up, a bit out of my way picking up fuel for the chipper. Pretty minor problem I guess, but going to walmart always gets my anxiety level up. Not a fan.
The gals be hittin on you?

They still have not found the murderer that was last seen near my off grid property. Apparently the person he killed was someone looking at a property for sale. To think of all the time I went out in the bush alone looking at properties, could have easily been me. I just hope he doesn't actually live in that area as it means this is going to be a repeat issue. I have a feeling which general area he's in though and it's a bit out of the way. I've gone by there before but the road is really rough so I tend to take another route.

I had to show my 18 year old how to turn on the induction range. I figured it out without using the manual. Why couldn't he? At least it heats up nice and fast.

If there was an iphone app for it then he could figure it out. :p
The way that goes, is the app is the *only* way to operate the stove. After 3 years, the company gets tired of maintaining the app, it gets pulled from the store, and your stove is bricked. New stove time!

Sounds about right. That's why I hate app based stuff myself. You're at their mercy to keep the app available and functional.

Had to refuse the microwave cuz it is an over the range model and I already have a 850 CFM range hood. Over the range was not part of the product name on the website, like the other over the range models.

Ordered a power adapter for a Sophos firewall I bought as it didn't come with one and got hit with a $20 duty fee. I kept getting emails from DHL but I was ignoring them since every time I order stuff on ebay I get tons of scam emails related to the package I just ordered and it's phishing. Went on Ebay's site and in the tracking it did say it was awaiting payment, so took my chances and actually made a payment through the email... It did go to dhl.com but the scams are so sophisticated now days, that means nothing, they can script stuff so it alters the url bar, or register domains with unicode characters that look the same as regular characters. ICANN was dumb to allow that.

Had I known this would happen I would have just ordered a matching voltage power adapter from Digikey and then added my own input connector. Only reason I bought these specific ones was because of the connector being oddball. But it's not that hard to swap that out.

Hardware set argument.

Me: you don't need towel hooks, nor do you have a place to mount them.
The zero visualization one: no, I want a set with two towel hooks
So we ordered the one with two towel hooks

Contractor: where do you want the towel hooks, I don't see a place that makes sense.

The zero visualization one: oh. I guess we are not installing those. I guess we can get one that we can stick to glass ( bath and showers is half the bathroom with a glass wall)

Me: :colbert:

2014 BMW X3 with <100,000k miles was idling rough. Took it to the dealership (no good European auto shops in the area) and after 2 days of diagnostics they know that one cylinder has really low compression, but not why. Their recommendation was a blank check to tear it apart to find the root cause or procure and drop in a new engine.

Just got the final estimate: they want $25,000 to put a new engine into a vehicle I paid $9,000 for 3.5 years ago.

Maybe you should check the compression yourself to see if that's even the problem, or can be replicated.

LoL suddenly 4090 seems affordable.

Go to a third party shop, the dealership is obviously not competent.

I pinched my finger on my folding truck ramps when putting them away. There's a big warning on it about it being a hazard and I knew about it, but still managed to do it. Starting to form into a bruise now. That was a dumb place to put my finger. :p
