I have to disagree with the "in thought" part. I bet you' ve never seen Cheerios and said, "Wow! Mini Donuts!" Or drowned yourself after reading a "scratch and sniff" at the bottom of a pool :D

Fausto Coppi was a famous cyclist back in the 40's and 50's who was the first to win the Tour of Italy and the Tour de France in the same year among many other accomplishments. He also led a very colorful life and is just an all-around interesting character. There's a bunch of good info and photos on this site for the curious among you.

I have been racing bikes on an amateur level for about 10 years now so it was kind of a gimme for me to pick a cycling-related handle, but I wanted one that was somewhat obscure. Calling myself LanCeArmSToNg2001 or something would be kinda lame. ;)

It's the vehicle I've been obsessed with since the first time I saw it's picture back in 1996.

Saw a BMW Z8 on the highway yesterday...speaking of being obsessed with certain cars. I tried to pull even with the guy to get a better look (the first one I've seen outside of auto shows) but the guy had to be doing at least 120. I know this as I flogged my poor Altima up to 110 and wasn't catching him. :D

Hey now... that's not true, going by what I've seen of your intelligent posts. :)
Nice perm BTW! I saw Viper's pics.

My name has been through a few iterations....

1. It was originally SpoonDaddy back in the old WoW! Compuserve days. (anyone remember that?)
--- it actually came from a dream I had the night before where all this silverware was calling me "daddy"....... don't ask.

2. Back in the AOL days..... I had to shorten it to Spoon976 funny thing is i meant it to be '97 (my high school class), but i accidently typed the 976 and they wouldn't let me change it.

3. Finally, I chose Spooner for Anandtech cuz that's what people started callin me on IRC, and I kinda liked it.

So there's a way too detailed explanation for my nick

:)

<<TO :p Knows?? Shadownose ?The be that wouldn?t pun, the complete>>

klee58, easily confused, eh? Which part of "plus, my last name is Perkins" and "It comes loosely from that old '40's radio show "The Shadow . . . The Shadow knows" can't you put together with the other to get Perknose with "Only the Perknose Knows".

Do I have to point out to you that the ONLY pun part is "nose, knows", and that I wouldn't have bothered to state upfront in my explanation that my last name was Perkins if it wasn't relevant to my nick?

My name is not Dave Shadow! I'm "brighter" than that! Now that I finished ranting, please allow me to commend you on a clever and interesting thread. Now, tell us about your nick, paint[er]bynumber.

Oh, and Brutuskend, HEARTS, yes, you are correct, sir.

Long story, but in short...

I used to write short stories on a fantasy vampire character I made up. Some of my stores were published in underground magazines. After I went to another university to complete my degree back in 1993, I started using the internet. My alais back then was Nightfall and has been ever since. Been using the same alais for the last 8 years online. :)

I chose rippy because my first choice, riptide, was taken. I go by riptide whenever gaming online. Most notably, when I'm with my fabulous gaming clan, MMZ.

If anyone remembers the electronic demo group called Future Crew, they had a little known demo called Amnesiac. It wasn't particularly incredibly but I liked the name.
Previously I had gone by eXtremist and Razor on various BBSs. :p

The 2.0 is from the db crash last year.. Apparently the original amnesiac account is still here and active but at the time I couldn't access it so I just created another account.

My new handle I use most everywhere is Oddfish..a friend of mine would always tell me, "you're an odd fish..." whenever I'd wierd her out. :D

Future Crew absolutely rocked. I remember always using their demos back in the days when family would come by and I'd have to show off my computer to them. :)

I played a lot on Battlenet (I hated the cheaters and pkers though). D2 i've played some on Bnet, but I'd get so lagged (US East) that I stopped playing for a while. Right now, I'm engrossed with Pool of Raidance. :D

Back in the day of Diablo1, I decided to make up an online alias. At first, I came up with Valdimer and I liked it. It was a completely made up name and it lasted me a while, but peolpe kept on reading it vladimer and thought I was russian. Nothing wrong with that, but eh.... I finally got tired of it half-way through my starcraft career.

After I got tired of being asked if I was russian and then spoken too in russian, I came up with the name Kelvrick. It's been my nick ever since. Completely made up with no meaning at all. It lasted me through Starcraft and Diablo2.
