Aside from a few fringe groups, folks will tell you the flag typicals stands for states rights.

I am sure you were taught in school all this crap you believe, but it certainly isn't true.

And, you still haven't said what it stands for that is so bad.

Yes there are. But they're loving it in CA, people finally treat them perfectly normally.
I'm sure it depends on the state and even the area within the state that you live in.

i'd say your part of a fringe group too. I'm sure some folks will tell you the Nazi flag symbolizes national unity and pride. They would be correct too.

I am glad the couple has found a nice place to live, but I doubt california is bigot free.


no place is bigot free. california does however contain a very diverse population and seems to keep attracting more. There are reasons we asian people don't flock towards the south. Have i personally experienced heckling by a redneck in the south? Amazingly yes, but its nothing but fun anecdote of course😛

Twice you have said "Ask any ....." as if that made a point. I live in the South. We are less intolerant of homosexuals than the rest of the country seems to be about Southernors.

The Confederate Flag is not a symbol for racism...
It is a symbol of the history of the South.

I'm a very liberal person, and it irks me to see some other
liberals trying to dismiss the history of the South..
and use it as a scapegoat to Racism and general bigotry.
Alot of modern violent racism has not occured in the South.
The big Chicago riots after World War I because whites were mad that blacks took
their jobs during the war, and the recent LAPD issues
and LA Riots in California among others.

I live in the Former capitol of the Confederacy (Richmond, VA)
Confederate Fags are pretty much shunned upon here...pretty sad.
Even worse, there's a street in Richmond called Monument Ave.
that has statues of major historical figures from the South
(Gen. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson Davis, )
The city claimed that the monumnets on the street needed to be more diverse, so
they put up a staute of Arthur Ashe ( a black tennis player
from Richmond) ... Now, I don't have a problem with a statue memorializing
a famous figure from Richmond, but in this location..its way out of place.
Not because Ashe is black, but because he is a Tennis Player.
It disrupts the historic continuity of the street.
It would be like putting a statue of Sugar Ray Leonard on the
Mall in D.C. mext to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial just
because he grew up in Washington.

Actually, it directly refutes your 'intolerance is stronger in the South' argument. It's just that you think it's OK to be intolerant about certain things. You are intolerant concerning my flag. Your criteria is personal preferance. Try a little intellectual honesty.

Actually, Asians do flock to the South. I'm from Dallas, and there are definitely lots of Asians here. We're not "deep South" but we are definitely part of the Confederacy. There aren't very many Confederate flags around here, at least I haven't seen many of them. The reason new immigrants might not migrate to the deep South has little or nothing to do with racism. First of all, California (where a lot of Asians stay) is a natural spot, because its the most western part of the United States, and there are already a "culture" existing there. Also, there are JOBS. Yes, suprisingly enough, people come to the United States not for the great weather of friendly people, but because this is the land of opportunity. There simply aren't as many jobs available in the deep South, espically in fields that are traditionally Asian. The Civil War was about how to best preserve our opportunities: whether the federal government should have more control, or whether it should belong to the state governments. As evidenced by the war, and the New Deal-present legislation, it clearly rests in the hands of the federal government.
 
To me it stands for a rouge government intent on overthrowing the US government. When i see people flying it I think to myself, to they really know what that flag was all about or are they just flying it to be cool. i think its the latter.

The South did not want to "overthrow" the US government...
They wanted to secede from the Union.

I wouldn't call that a rogue government.
Today, there's movements in Quebec and Texas for secede from their Nations.


I do agree that alot of people display the flag to "be cool", but I also
think that alot of people display the American flag to "be cool, especially
after the popular wave of patriotism after the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.

I will say something that has been said time and time again in this thread. Southern people are typically more tolerant than those in other regions. My cousins are asians. I just talked to him on the phone. Never once has he been given sh!t about being Asian. Mexicans and Asians are flocking all over the South. Look at Atlanta and Birmingham. Only fcking idiots in the South use the Confederate Flag to show bigotry.

You want a bigot. Jessie Jackson. That being said, Jesse has urged we boycott South Carolina because they still fly the Confederate Flag. That is quite sad. The flag stands for states right and the right for states to fight a tyrannical government. It is funny because Alan Keyes(a black man) is all for the Confederate Flag. Hmm???

Any historian will tell you the Civil War was about states rights. People in other regions of the country look to the South to project their bigotry. Most have never even been to the South. They imagine it as just good 'ole boys and rednecks drinking beer, burning crosses and hanging black people. I dare you to come to Birmingham and Atlanta and see. Blacks and whites live in harmony around here. We are friends with each other. Most black people that I know that are conservative hate Jessie Jackson's racist ass. All he wants to do is stir things up and get on tv to preach about all these great inequalities his people have. Funny his people are not the majority of hardworking blacks.

Why is Atlanta the center of Freanik? If you don't know what Freaknik is then don't even bother replying. What about Daytona Beach? That IS THE place to go for blacks during spring break.
