what do you eat for a healthy lunch when trying to lean up?

ive decided that i want to try and lean up a bit, and do it more efficiently than i had in the past. i got back from costa rica last week and for 2 months prior i was eating cleaner and leaned up a bit, but i still went out to lunch at work and would eat usually a sandwich from cosi, jimmy john, subway, or something similar.

when i would pack lunch i would bring 2 sandwiches, usually 1 turkey + cheese on wheat and 1 ham + cheese on wheat.

but now i want to eat even cleaner than that. i know coldcuts aren't the best for you either. i'm just looking for suggestions to bring into lunch that will be healthy and help me lose some of the fat while keeping my size.

i would prefer to eat 2 smaller meals (like i was doing with 2 sandwiches spread out through the day). i'm a pretty big guy (5'11 210lbs) and don't want to lose too much. i'd like to see if i could get down to 200lbs and keep my size, but i know i will also lose a little size if i lose weight in general. just want to keep as much as possible so looking for a protein filled lunch that is healthy.

so does anyone have anything they like to eat that is rather healthy when trying to lose a few lbs? i'm fine with eating the same thing pretty much M-F.

I usually get a half a rotisserie chicken and about a pint of grape tomatoes. I'll eat the breast and a cup of the tomatoes for lunch and the leg and thigh and the rest of the tomatoes for my snack before I leave to head home.

I also grill a lot of chicken breasts on Sunday and put them in the fridge and heat them up for lunch with some kind of veggie. Today I had a bunch of celery with it.

You cant go wrong with cooking a turkey/chicken on Sunday and using it all week. Thats what I am doing this week. Ill change up what I bring with it though.

If you want to do sandwiches you can do a wrap instead of bread. You can make some over easy eggs the night before and make a sandwich for lunch. You can do tuna salad/egg/chicken salad sandwiches. You can use lettuce instead of bread and load up on veggies. Probably depends on what kind of macros you're trying to hit.

I just bought a slow cooker and that thing is awesome. You can drop some chicken breast, jar of salsa, taco seasoning, and some onions in there before bed and when you wake up, you can make wraps for work.

I like to put a 4 lbs. pork butt or shoulder cut in there with a sea salt, oregano, garlic, olive oil rub.

ok think im gonna get a slow cooker from amazon after hearing you all talk about that. i love being able to cook shit and not worry about it lol.

chicken salad is definitely something i like, i guess i would just have to go light on the mayo to make it somewhat healthy. hell i could eat chicken salad sandwiches like every meal and be okay with that.

i'd probably have to eat 2 wraps/sandwiches a day for lunch though. i may look into the wrap thing, never really looked into that before.

If you drop the cheese and add a lot of veggies that should help. Some fruit.

Or use brown rice or quinoa instead and make it into a hot meal instead of a sandwich.

Slow cookers are the bomb. I like the chicken/salsa combo. I will even just boil a bunch of chicken and mix in some green chile for some good eating. I will usually take a serving of tortilla chips and crush them up and make like a taco salad thing.

if you got a microwave at work it's easier to vary on the theme, like rice or pasta instead of the bread, to mix things up. It's all good with chicken.
Cooked chicken lasts a few days so you can eat tasty grilled chicken for days.
Fill yourself with tasty easy-to-eat raw vegetables if you're too hungry. Fennel is very portable and contains fibers, just wash, cut into slices, squeeze some lemon over it if you don't like it brown, and put it into a sealable food container. The hands don't get dirty with this food and it doesn't need any dressing.

Im in a truck all day so microwaving and the like are out for me. Here is what I usually take with me: at least a cup of greek yogurt mixed with either honey or any fruit I cut up, a baggie of Kashi Golean cereal, a bag of carrots with a portable hummus tube from costco and an apple. Lots of protein to keep me full and the carbs arent too high, with the Kashi being the sole culprit. Keeps me full most of the morning until i get home from work.

Peace

Grilled chicken + Brussels sprouts.
Grilled chicken + artichokes.
Grilled chicken + sweet potato.
Grilled chicken + sweet peas.

Some times I'll mix it up with Grilled chicken and uh....more grilled chicken.

I'm really beginning to hate grilled chicken.

have a microwave at work, I throw some already cooked chicken with a bit of BBQ sauce in, put it on a salad with a few pinches of shredded cheese, croutons and a light dressing. BBQ chicken salads are great. I have 6 different BBQ sauces in the fridge so I can switch it up.

You can spice it up with a little canned tuna!

or salmon is good too, but I haven't figured out how to prepare it in a way that I don't get lynched for using the microwave.

Two 16oz steaks, with a side of mashed potatoes and some greens. And a few pints of a dark beer to wash it all down.

When I am doing it right ...

My typical lunch is a salad with low cal dressing. 50% of the time it has chicken or some other meat product in it (peperoni, turkey, etc)

Breakfast is nothing.

Dinner:
Whatever my wife makes, I just stay conscious of cals.

Late night:
Popcorn or small amount of nuts or veggies/fruits or mix of this stuff.

When doing it right, I'll also take in extra calories via whey powder.

Anything specific to look for in a slow cooker? They range from $30 to $150 for high rated ones on amazon.

EDIT:

just ordered this one based off of the reviews.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

noticed some were programmable some weren't, but that one is and seemed to have great reviews and was only $50 so i snagged it.

Looks like a good price for a programmable unit. Crock Pot is the original brand also. Lot's of good recipes out there.

You could also do chicken breasts along with some chicken broth if you want to stick to something clean.

you should also plan your meals accordingly, skipping meals is not the way to lose weight, that is a way to lose health, have your meals, go for a healthy diet and eat as much as your appetite needs.
