there is no manly way to commit a cowardly and selfish act

he's right.

He's right about that, but suicide often is neither cowardly or selfish.

Ignorance truly is bliss.

it is selfish because they are not thinking of the people that love them who they've left behind to suffer all the "what ifs", "maybe i could've done something to prevent it", "why didn't i see the signs?"
they've ended their suffering while those around them get to suffer the rest of their lives over it.

oh yeh, it's selfish.

But it's often other peoples selfishness or unwillingness to offer aid/friendship that drives people to suicide.

What a logical paradox you have created.

what a line of bullshit you have created. what makes you think that it's "other peoples selfishness or unwillingness to offer aid/friendship that drives people to suicide"? do you have statistics on this or are you just looking for a way to counter anything i've said?

i am sure this has happened in the history of the world, but it's a bold generalization for you to imply this is often a rule.

Err, at a very lowpoint in my life i considered it for nearly a year? When someone gets into "that state" it is usually an ongoing load of unreasonable stress that a person cannot see themselves ever overcoming. You'd be amazed what a friend can do in that situation.

However, there are the "other" types of suicides, like "i cant live without her" etc... Those I do not understand, as i've never vested my entire life in another person.

so you are saying that at that point in your life you had no other people who were willing to help you or be your friend?

To do it properly, you have to enter a situation where you know two thing will occur:

1.) That you will not live through the event
2.) That you will save someone else's life.

Selflessness. That's the fact, Jack.

That's the proper way to die like a man.

So if you don't get a Medal of Honor, you don't die like a man?

Sticking your testicles in a heavy duty paper shredder. It's so manly, no woman on earth is capable of it.

I thought this was a joke thread.
Half of the responses werent serious anyway if not more...

and yeah, suicide is selfish at least for the fact that someone else will have to deal with your corpse/body remnants depending on the way you chose to end yourself with... I am sure its a lot nastier than someone dying of old age...

Also, I have seen pics floating around the internet of a guy who chopped himself in half, at the waist, using a bandsaw. Dunno if it was real or not.

Or shoving your head into a rotating table saw blade? Got to be face first though.

Parachuting into a Communist strong-hold with 10 pounds of C4 strapped to your back and blowing it up just in time to save America from a nuclear attack.

Death by drowning in kittens is also acceptable.
