~1180, took once. Didn't care, I took the ACT's and got a 34 composite or something. SAT's are useless.
[edit]ACT composite scores range from 1 to 36 FYI, and the test is more more difficult/comprehensive than the SAT's[/edit]
i always thought the ACT's were easier than the SAT's.
after all, you scored higher on the ACT's![]()

Does that mean my 1300 in '88 was better than a 1300 would be now?
Yep. By about 70 or 80 points from what I can tell from college admissions. Look up the average admitted SAT score at a school like Duke in 1988 and then today.
I know, it was HILARIOUS in '96 when the newspaper was saying "Local area schools have made dramatic improvements in SAT scores"... when it had nothing to do with the students at all.

PSAT score is not an accurate gauge of how well you will do on the SAT
I got a National Merit Scholar commendating for scoring in like the 90th percentile on the PSAT.
My SAT score of 1300 was about 90th percentile.
All you guys with scores of 1200 or better need to stop calling yourselves stupid.
The national average is around 1000.
The AT crowd is NOT a good representation of people in general.
And remember that most people who aren't going to college don't even take them.
If everyone was required to take the SAT's in high school, the average would be even lower.
A friend of mine scored around 900-1000 and is now a financial analyst for Nortel making 100k a year
Uhmmm...in order to get National Merit Semifinalist - you must be in the top 99.5%. I did much better on the PSAT then on the real SAT - I made a 1490 "projected score" and then a 75 on the writing - that was enough to qualify me to be a semifinalist..then you fill out some paperwork (90% of those who do get it) and become a finalist..I'm not sure if I was a scholar or not (I didnt get a scholarship from the National Merit corp, but rather from my university)..On the SAT I scored 1380 the first time, 1320 the second time..oh well, the PSAT got me a free ride and then some![]()

my daughter too.. she was a scholar, she gets a bit from national merit, and what she would get from the university is reduced by that bit, so.. the total is the same either way.. but she didn't do as well as you.. 135 + 79.. you must be in a larger or smarter state! but her SAT did turn out to be about what the psat predicted.. 1330 first go, 1390 second. ACT was her best test, but PSAT had a much better payoff.
