I did win $240 playing Poker on Sunday tho :)

ok, forgive my ignorance on this matter, but can you be jewish and atheist? i thought being jewish (judaism, right?) was your religion, not your race?

I'm ignorant too, but I think if your parents are Jewish then when you're born that makes you Jewish too or something? But I still think that you can decide NOT to practice your faith much like if you're born into a Catholic family but don't want to be Catholic. I guess it doesn't make sense to me either. So just nevermind altogether.

But either way, props for winning $240 playing poker.

Jews are semtitic, and so are Arabs, but Jews and Arabs are basically sort of narrowed into similar categories, just because both are semitic does not mean they're necessarily the same.

In fact, most of the inhabitants of the Middle East are semitic--including the Turks. Off the top of my head, Armenia is probably the only non-semitic based country in the Middle East.

I bought most of my own gifts and got the usual cash but after a while more/better 'shit' doesn't really matter.

I really enjoyed the joy on my kids' faces and having the whole family spend the entire day together; (the Wii tournaments may have helped) it was great no one just made an appearance and split.

edit: my wife has been very content with her small gifts over the years but I think she is trying to determine which platinum/diamond/sapphire ring she will want for our 10 year in a few years.

My new fiancee hooked me up because I gave her some bling a week ago for her finger. She got me an Xbox 360, Knocked Up on HD-DVD, and a workout shirt + pants.

Her parents got me COD4 for the 360 and NBA Live 08 for my Wii (return :p)

My parents gave me $100, and my aunt gave me $50, and about $150 worth of GC's to various places from the rest of the family.

For myself I bought a 42" Aquos and a Leica 14-50mm lens.

I got nothing.
But then again it is not a custom of our family to give gifts to each other on x-mas.

Parents may do 50:50 on my new computer upgrade! (~$700 upgrade)

Perhaps there will be less drama at Christmas-time in a year or two, after everyone else in the family has moved away! :D

My fiance's grandparents gave me $50, his parents gave us matching lamps, pillows/throws/house stuff, an international phone card and luggage for our trip and gave me makeup and clothes. The fiance got me the new Pirates on Blu-ray as well as SuperBad and 2 Michael Buble CDs. He also got me Unforgivable Woman perfume, some traveling and cooking books on Ireland, and some kitchen stuff for when we get married and get a place. Overall, it was a good Christmas:).

Really? Or was it Unforgettable?

In one form or another I got about 1000 bucks. Actual gifts were a bar of Ghiradelli chocolate.
Am glad for the money, it will pay for the 800 dollars worth of actual gifts I gave and the 1500 dollar plane trip.

I got a pair of shoes (desperately needed), some socks and underwear, a Home Depot gift certificate from my team at work (already purchased stuff for my bathroom remodel), and a handmade clay cup from my 7 year old. It's pretty nice looking but leaks :(.

I have no complaints.
