What did Santa bring you?

Saint Krampus brought me a bad cold.
But there was an up side...
My cold kept me at home.
The family party at my sisters farm/winery turned into another fiasco.
Brother-in-law getting drunk, again, and yelling at the kids and toys all over the floor.
Which is fast becoming the tradition, i.e. his getting drunk and a mean drunk at that.
You'd think a person could remain sober at least one night out of the year.
Especially when the family is gathering together for the holiday.
But NO......
Last year he got drunk and started a big fight over guns and the NRA.
Can you imagine, an alcoholic owning a winery?
I'd rather stay at home with my bad cold, which considering turned out not so bad after all..... 😉

Bought a few movies off VuDu and had our own little movie night.
THE MARTIAN (now on vudu), EVEREST (first time watching that), SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE (so bad, that it was actually pretty good), HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA #2 (not into animated cartoon movies but this kept my attention. Pretty good humor for a kids cartoon), and I had to buy THE VISIT (One of my favorite comedy-horror films from 2015). Thanks to VuDu.
And Merry Christmas to all from Old Saint Krampus.

Got a Vitamix Pro Series 750 and a Philips HF3520 Wake-Up Light Coloured Sunrise Simulation. I have not tried either of them out yet...

nothing.

Got my daughter last night! Turns out she has to sit for a test before she starts her new job, so I've got her for a week. Now I just need to get out of work for a week.

First row tickets to an NBA game right behind home team bench
4 lbs of my favorite coffee beans
Comfy socks
New wallet
and other smaller items

My 2 1/2 year old daughter got the talking Hazel character she asked Santa for, so she's a happy camper 🙂

But, seriously, that butter crock that I got is awesome. Why did people stop using these?

got some money and parlayed that into a pair of Beyerdynamic T90's and a Burson Soloist SL amp. got the cans already, waiting on the amp. will use my Oppo HA-2 and LH Labs Geekout V2 as the DAC.

oh boy this setup is gonna be good.

Okay, so now that the monsoon is over and I've replaced the GFCI outlet on the bathroom line in my house and all is well with that despite still being out $200 worth of network gear... I shall reflect on what I did get on the fun side of Christmas.

- Wool aviator hat, which apparently this winter I won't need.
- Hyper 212 EVO so I can finally get the stock Intel HSF out of my machine.
- Amazon Fire Stick (just in time for my HDHomeRun and Wifi AP to get fried)
- New underwear, because who doesn't need those?
- A new shirt.
- Some Christmas Peeps.
- And the best present of all... my kids got me one of these:

I usually only get stuff like socks and underwear for Christmas since I tell the kids not to get me anything. This year they got me socks, fishing tackle and a really nice pair of winter gloves, so I did pretty well.

But I kept running into great deals here and there, so I also spent some money on myself for the following:

-Savage .308 Axis bolt-action rifle ($149 + tax, AR)
-Savage/Stevens Model 320 Field 12-gauge shotgun ($172 + tax)
-Heritage Rough Rider .22 cowboy revolver ($119 + tax)
-Baofeng handheld ham radio w/programming cable and hand mic ($35.79 shipped)

I still have to buy a scope for the .308, but it was a pretty good year. 😀

Santa brought me thunderstorms this morning which killed $200 worth of networking gear including a switch, my UniFi AP and my HDHomeRun Prime along with possibly the need of an electrician to check my electrical since I now have a GFI outlet which refuses to reset. The fire department is at the neighbor's house across the street as they apparently have something a bit more major going on, I'm not sure if they were the ones that took the lightning hit or not.

He also brought me torrential rains which are causing a lot of local flooding bringing the possibility that we won't be doing Xmas dinner over at the friends' house this evening.
Hope you and yours are safe.

Edit: I see you can stop blaming the dog.

I received two beautiful gifts. My eyes, as a stage IV cancer patient I was able to open them this morning & enjoy another Christmas with my family.
Stay strong, Geek.

I had a wonderful day with relatives and friends. Enjoyed conversation, great and plentiful food, wine and espresso with a shot of Sambuca. The affects of climate change were the icing on the cake.

I just read this and it made me realize that nothing else in this thread matters. I'm so happy that you get more time with your family and here's hoping that there will be more....many, many more days (all of them) that you get to do this.

From someone who's been there, you have my deepest symphony! One of the hardest things that I ever had to do in my life. So very sorry! 🙁
Thanks. It really sucked, as you already know. But I am really glad I got a rescue. She has issues, quite severe issues. It is very clear that her previous owner(s) didn't treat her well at all and kept her caged for long periods of time. She doesn't trust people whatsoever.

So I am rebuilding that trust very slowly and showing her that people can be good and will treat her right. I'm also trying to teach her what freedom from a cage is like. It's going to be a long process. But if I can redeem a living creature after having to determine the final fate of a previous one, it's a kind of vindication.

It's a vicious cycle though because eventually I will have to decide the fate of this new one, if I live that long. 🙁

But...Happy Holidays to everyone. To enjoy them it is all about what is in your heart and soul, and there are many good hearts and souls in here. 🙂

And Geekbabe, congrats...hope to read your post next holiday season.
