What did Santa bring you?

Did you make out like a bandit or were you a naughty child this year? Time to confess ATOT.

I was a very bad boy and need to be punished. :sneaky:

I got a BB-8 Bluetooth droid. Nice sentiment and very generous but way too expensive for what you get. Probably worth more like CAD$49.99 (<US$40) not CAD$189.99 (<US$140) I'm returning it for an Apple TV or something.

Santa used my credit card and bought me a Nexus 5X the day after Thanksgiving. He also used my credit card to buy a case and car charger for Christmas. 🙂

That's the exact one. The bottom part is just a sphere. No wheels. So yeah the design is kinda cool... But that sense of coolness wears off in about 5 minutes.

There is some sort of mechanism inside that spins the sphere. There is also a magnet inside that holds the head in place and moves it as necessary as the sphere spins, but otherwise the head is freely removable. (The head has wheels on its underside so it doesn't move out of place while the sphere spins.)

However, as far as robots go, it's pretty stupid, and all the sounds come from the phone not the droid itself. Plus, the head will fall off if it hits furniture the wrong way.

Still, that's pretty damn cool. I can see how the novelty would wear off quickly, but if you tend to have a lot of friends over, it would certainly blow their minds. But yeah, I would probably return it after 5 minutes myself. I'd rather put the money toward some sort of useful electronics. Thanks for the explanation.

Nothing worth mentioning. My Xmas purchases for me include socks, whisky, mead, Mjölnir pendant, and a skullsplitter axe.

Santa brought me thunderstorms this morning which killed $200 worth of networking gear including a switch, my UniFi AP and my HDHomeRun Prime along with possibly the need of an electrician to check my electrical since I now have a GFI outlet which refuses to reset. The fire department is at the neighbor's house across the street as they apparently have something a bit more major going on, I'm not sure if they were the ones that took the lightning hit or not.

He also brought me torrential rains which are causing a lot of local flooding bringing the possibility that we won't be doing Xmas dinner over at the friends' house this evening.

Well my favourite would have to be the 8 track player I got!!!!

Im listening to my WHOS NEXT tape right now (The who) -- Sounds beautiful!! (Just about as good as my decca record of this album (W/o the surface noise))

I LOVE ANALOG SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!

Got a few hours until we open presents still. We opened stockings this morning though, just a bunch of petty things that I'll toss in the trash and my wife knows I don't eat candy so no clue why she put candy in it.

Got a lot of unexpected stuff. A blonde, green eyed Cheerleader, some pot (I live in Colorado), a new Walther PPK, some more JD to add to the collection and I think there's a damn partridge in a pear tree out back when I went out for a smoke.

LMAO!

I bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S4 on cyber Monday for $99. Not too bad I guess. I'm just entering the smartphone craze and I'm loving it so far.

I received two beautiful gifts. My eyes, as a stage IV cancer patient I was able to open them this morning & enjoy another Christmas with my family.

You win.

You also show what's important.

All the best to you and keep doing what you're doing and enjoy all the best bits.

Tell the bad bits to fuck the fuck off.
