So I was watching the Zimmerman trial today, trying to keep up with all the developments, and in the course of many boring testimonies I saw this pic and thought, "how slick would this dude look if was wearing one of those old fashioned Southern suspenders while hammering home some legal points?"

Umm yeah? Pretty sure suspenders were standard with a three piece suit up until the 50s and 60s at least, I'm sure if you Googled you find a ton from that period. And some late hold-outs even up to the 80s. So I guess I answered my own question, somewhere between the 70s and 80s, depending on your measure.

Ok thank you, I believe we get it now. Can you stop trolling in my thread? You don't have to reply seriously but at least quit spamming with the dumb pictures. You could put all those pics in a single post, FYI.

Aside from a few of the dashing and facially-exquisite professional types posted in here, suspenders require a larger and manlier build to not look silly. Modern-day fatties have destroyed the once-good image of the hefty alpha male, and thus they have basically vanished.

I thought the idea was to keep your pants up around your waist.

I think you just contradicted yourself with that statement. You said that suspenders require a larger and manlier build not to look silly. I agree, most of the skinny looking hipsters wearing them look silly. But then you said "modern day fatties" destroyed the once good ... what? I don't even, I'm lost. Who destroyed suspenders, skinnies or fatties?
