Suspenders were really in fashion in either the fifties or sixties-they have always been like bowties-a very small sector of the population loves them and wears them, no one else does.
The only exception is that they were actually in style for a brief period in the 1980s. Of course so were balloon pants. Being "in fashion" is a meaningless and stupid concept except for Paris Hilton types. Men should wear what looks good on them, that they like and is comfortable.
