What Countries are good for Americans to Emigrate to?

Have done all of the above but wages are going down or at least stagnate while cost of living is skyrocketing.

What answer do you have for that?

Sounds like you are a typical rich Republican, probably a CEO not affected by skyrocketing cost of living.

Don't be an ass when someone gives you honest and good advice.

The cost of living in the US is not skyrocketing. Inflation is rising but it's still not that high. Odds are you're still trying to live at the same standard that you did when the economy was booming and that is a mistake. Cut back on your expenses like everyone else is.

The answer that comes to my mind is, besides making extra efforts to earn more is to be more frugal. The great majority of the Americans I come across have barely scratched the surface of efficient use of their money.

BTW, I agree that your condemnation of the giver of that advice is out of line. It sounded relatively sensible to me.

You probably should go to brazil if you're rich and can get a good job.
You live in gated communities and send your kids to private schools and profit from economic growth. [/B]
Seems like an oxymoron there, "if you're rich and can get a good job." If you're rich, you don't need to work.

If you're filthy rich, you can live well anywhere.
Even if you are not a citizen?

I have a friend that retired there American dollar is 45 to 1. The guy is living in a 3500sf home in a gated community $300 a month with a full time live in maid @ $35.00 a month yes a month people work for $1 a day

I was just chatting to him online 12am here 12pm there he just came back from a Chinese restaurant had Curry Shrimp rice egg roll wonton soup cost him like $1.50 to eat.

He's living a nice life there on about $1200 a month Social Security

Its the only Asian country were they speak English and they love westerners. The phili girls are extra sweet humble and among the most beautiful in the world

The guy said he was walking around the mall and all the girls keep looking at him couldn't figure out what there looking at .
The culture is different the young girls are attracted to the older men they want stability and look at older men as being more stable he says.

So to sum it up i say where else can u go where your money is worth almost 50times what it is here and just when think its all over your in your 60s looking at young girls saying I'll never get that again all the young girls are attracted to you like your a celebrity

Sounds like paradise to me

Lots of places are fine for retiring. You can live like a king in many parts of the world for $12K-$15K/yr. You still need to be able to afford healthcare and other things though. Then of course there are the legal things to deal with as well as things like paying bribes depending on where you are. I don't think the OP is interested in that though. From the sounds of it he has no money so that's not an option. For those of you with lots of money in the bank though there are dozens of nice options.

Sounds like the country is probably sh*thole to me. No country that actually has people making $1/day is anything but abject poverty almost uniformly across the board and then the occasional bastion of person in a gated community more or less scurrying from gated area to gated area lest the downtrodden locals interact with him. I can barely even stand vacationing in places like Jamaica or DR for that reason.

Sh*t will get real when your buddy gets sick and needs care.

Lets be realistic for one moment. Most people on this planet have never had a solid bowel movement. Now that we have that reality check out of the way keep in mind that unless you're in an English speaking country or Europe most people make very little money. So if you want to retire in South East Asia and live like a king you're gonna be around poor people. You're also going to be around a lot of ex-pats though. Tons. I haven't been to the Philippines (due to safety) but I have been to other countries where I've seen people retire with a house, butler, driver, cook, maid, nanny, etc for pennies on the dollar. It really would be tempting but you hit the main point on the head: What happens when you get sick? I've been to hospitals in 3rd world countries and the best way I can describe them is "dungeon" so you better have a lot of money available for private care wherever you go. Nevertheless if you're really healthy and have some way to get healthcare when needed in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand or whatever you can live like a Pimp, King, or Queen.

My friend has been around a little bit lived in a few places i know of like NY, Miami, Las Vegas and he says its actually no different every place has its good and bad areas

Hes been living there in the Philippines now for almost 10yrs
First place he lived in was a city called Makati heres a video below of how the place looks he said its amazing almost like New York everything there they have here in US Mc Donald's KFC big malls HomeDepot Cable and Satellite TV .
As far as health care hes able to afford coverage on his budget we talked about it the guy said he had a problem with his back had to spend a week in the hospital said he was impressed most all the doctors were trained here in usa weeks stay in a hospital there cost a few hundred had the same problem and hospital stay here in usa cost thousands so health care not a issue

Yeah when I think of NY I think of Home Depot, McDonald's and satellite TV.

Funny thing about that is that that country is one where the well to do(but not actually rich) will actually travel for certian types of surgery as it is far cheaper and just as high of quality.
There is actually a medical tourism industry there.
So while that might be true in other countries... there not so much.

Wow that was fast took u less then 5 mins to find something u could pick at in my post. Not very constructive to this discussion ?

Try not to be butthurt. This is P&N. Let's just be realistic about how the Philippines matches up with NYC. If you live in Ohio and want to retire in the Philippines because you're happy with going to Orchard's and Arby's I'm sure the Philippines can be an interesting place to retire.

Makati isn't a city, it is a part of Manila. Manila is actually reasonably expensive to live in if you want something even close to Western standards. It is a cool place in many ways, but it is also dirty, can be quite dangerous, and has seriously poor areas in it where people are literally starving to death living on the streets.

I'm not even going to talk about the myth of Filipinas liking "older" men for "stability". When you make $1 a day and have a strong sense of family and the need to support them, women all over the world make choices that they never would if they had more money.

Almost no place in the world will easily accept someone with a criminal record. Most cheap places to live have a low standard of living. Canada certainly doesn't want a loser and whiner like Dave.

Makati is a city its one of the 17 cities that make up Metro Manila

Defiantly some really bad and extremely dangerous areas in manila with tons of poverty but every countries cities has its good and bad areas. I was raised in NY and I've seen some of the worst areas on the planet there.
As far as making different choices because of money unforchantly we all making choices in life that center around money

Idk, Ive been to Canada plenty of times on business trips and and that country lets in plenty of losers to live there permanently. Except their names are not Dave. Its more like Ceasar/Fabian from Haiti, who deals drugs and wont work a single day in his life. Or Chou lin Lee from China who also lives on the dole [though most Chinese in Canada admittedly, are hard workers, unlike most Haitians I have seen there].

IMO, go to where you WANT to go. I've always been itching to go to China. Dunno really...I'd have to learn Chinese tho. Probably not too hard. I've been learning some new words... Helps if you can speak the language.

I hear Hawaii is a great place to go! 🙂 You know most people in Hawaii don't consider Hawaii as part of the USA anyway. But wherever you go, Good Luck!

If you like big city life, you are probably better off in the US anyway. Asian countries like Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia are all known for their beaches and tourist sites. Big cities like Manila don't have much to offer. If you want go to Philippines, I'd suggest smaller cities like Cebu. Much cheaper, less traffic/dirty air to deal with. Advantage of Philippines is English speaking people will feel right at home.

Manila is made up of a whole bunch of "cities". Makati is one of them, they all make up the greater city of Manila. Technically they are recognized as their own cities, but they also are like boroughs in NYC. Just about anything in The Philippines is such a confusing, chaotic mess that it is hard to say from week to week what exactly is going on.

I've only been there 2 times, stayed in Makati once and Quezon City the other time. For a few years when I was living in Singapore, my conversational Tagalog was decent. As a long time traveler to Asia, I can assure you that as a rule of thumb, if you want to find a good, fun bar, find one with a good Filipino band.

(2 young women, once older guy playing drum machine and keyboard is not a good Filipino band, that is a typical hotel bar band).

I'm living in Shanghai now trying to stuff Mandarin into my old, tired brain.

If it's any consolation, I emigrated from the US to Australia 4 years ago, got my permanent residency, and am up for citizenship soon.

Unemployment is low, wages are high, yes things are ridiculously expensive, but quality of life is far better then anything I found in the US. I live in a beautiful city, get water views wherever I go, walk to work the weather is great, and I work down by one of, if not the most breathtaking harbours in the world.

Only downside is my investments I left in the US which are now utterly worthless since the AUD is so strong.

What do you do for a living?

I know a couple of guys that have retired to Thailand and the Philippines. Living on retired O-4 or O-5 pay (~$3500-$5000 a month) at age 42 and they're loving life. There's a pretty huge community of American ex-pats living off entitlements over there.

The only thing that strikes me as funny is you see they live in a huge, nice house, have a maid, a chef, a gaggle of girlfriends, but a shitty little no-name car. Because Ferrari's still cost $200,000 in the Philippines. 😀

The first question to ask yourself Dave is where am I going to be happy. That should narrow down your options rather significantly, then you can look at immigration, etc.

I think you have it backwards. The person in question's identity is tied up in complaining about what outside forces are conspiring to ensure he isn't happy.

If he was left without those excuses he'd have to face up to his problems being of his own fault, and that's not likely to happen. Conclusion: He isn't going anywhere.

It is evident that those that used to be middle class but have been successfully knocked down by the Republican plan to eliminate the middle class have to leave the U.S.

That an American can change citizenship to

etc

LOL!

Run away! Run away! Run away!

Typical Liberals. LOL!

I am an American and will be forever. There is no greater place on the face of the Earth to live than the United States of American. So for you pussies that have nothing to add and only want to take, by all means leave. Go! We don't need you.

May I suggest Libya. Or Egypt. If you are really Liberal, why not Afghanistan?
