I just finished reading all the books in the Dresden files series, which I would recommend to anyone. Kinda like Die Hard in the form of a fantasy novel (the original Die Hard that is, not all the crappy sequels).
Right now I'm reading the Codex Alera series by the same author, and while they're ok, they are just not as good as the Dresden files.
Oh and to answer the previous poster, yes I read Name of the Wind, Wise Mans Fears, and the Painted Man series. All pretty decent, though not in my top 10 for fantasy novels.
Also I'm still struggling to get through the final book of the Wheel of Times. It's not very good, but I read the other 13 books, and I really should find out how it ends. Realistically though, that series should have ended a whole lot sooner. The series was pretty good up until book 6 or so, but after that it just feels like the authors are dragging it out to make more money.
