Remind fellow citizens that they cannot take Democracy for granted, and everyone needs to get involved in Democratic process. Every citizen of this great nation has to realize that they are the guardian of this democracy. Don't fall for lies and every piece of news must be fact checked. We want a democratically elected President every 4 years and not a King.

Regardless of the outcome, I will shake my head at the closeness of the election

I get Trumpanzees voting for him...but ordinary people? Just doesn't make sense to me.

Some are voting for him for temporary short-term benefits

I don't understand the disdain for Trump. Pre covid we had a great economy, the lowest overall unemployment in 50 years, the lowest black unemployment ever, an improvement in the trade imbalance with China and 4 middle east peace deals. The man was doing work. People get this upset because he says mean things?
He is a criminal, he is racist, he is a misogynists, he doesn't give a fuck about you in any way, in addition to being a fucking lying asshole. He ordered that children be imprisoned away from their parents. Hundreds of which will never see their parent again, ever.

Or are you so fucking stupid that YOU think that CHYNA has been paying those tarriffs. Sorry my foolish firend, YOU and the rest of us pay those tariffs, every fucking nickle of them.

Saw an interview where someone said the voted for him because of their 401k, and that is the only reason. Well it aligns with the Rump philosophy of me, me, me, and only me... without even considering that if we had growth like the previous 8 years before Rump, their 401k may actually be much bigger than it is now.

Trumps accomplishment on the economy is that he didn't manage to fuck up what Obama had set in motion.

I'm either going to be so angry I will want to kill or be sick Biden won without a Senate majority. Americans have made me sick as usual. It's such a joy to live in a country full of people who fuck themselves thinking they're fucking somebody else.

Well I'd argue he did f it up by going trillions in debt during strong economy where you should be paying debt

I don't have a problem with that...at least the guy had a semi-valid reason.
I'm primarily a one-issue Democrat...the rights of workers to unionize.
Yes, I also support the right of wimmenz to have an abortion if they choose...and I'm in favor of universal healthcare...but, really, it's workers' rights.

Damn, that's shallow. Unions suck. Pay some mostly corrupt organization just to keep your fucking job. Union only shops are no different than a fucking cult with dues sucked out of every pay check.

I never worked a union job, I never needed someone to "represent me". And had it come to that, get another fucking job. If it's related to safety, working conditions, contact OSHA or similar regulatory agency.

done properly, unions can be a huge boon for workers. the problem, IMO, is that worker-employer relations in the US are so antagonistic that unions are as good as they are bad.

good example: when covid hit, all of my swedish colleagues were immediately laid off. but they all got benefits guaranteed by the company & swedish government until everyone was brought back.

bad example: my plant has a union. even something as simple as turning a wrench - if you're not a mechanic - can be filed as a grievance. in many of these smaller cases, the union rules end up operating as a barrier to getting something done quickly, rather than ensuring that workers are fairly treated.

culturally, we need to drop the profit-at-all-cost mentality, and every quarter needs to show continual and increasing growth. people aren't robots, and only gibbs free energy increases forever.

That's stupid. Unions are what built the middle class. Without unions, we'd have the robber barons still running things.

Unions and union representation are mostly responsible for:

40 hour work weeks
Paid vacations
Paid Holidays
Sick Leave
OSHA and safer workplaces
Weekends
All Breaks at Work, including your Lunch Breaks
FMLA
Social Security
Minimum Wage
Civil Rights Act/Title VII (Prohibits Employer Discrimination)
8-Hour Work Day
Overtime Pay
Child Labor Laws
Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA)
40 Hour Work Week
Worker's Compensation (Worker's Comp)
Unemployment Insurance
Pensions
Employer Health Care Insurance
Collective Bargaining Rights for Employees
Wrongful Termination Laws
Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
Whistleblower Protection Laws
Employee Polygraph Protect Act (Prohibits Employer from using a lie detector test on an employee)
Veteran's Employment and Training Services (VETS)
Compensation increases and Evaluations (Raises)
Sexual Harassment Laws
Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
Employer Dental, Life, and Vision Insurance
Privacy Rights
Pregnancy and Parental Leave
Military Leave
The Right to Strike
Public Education for Children
Equal Pay Acts of 1963 & 2011 (Requires employers pay men and women equally for the same amount of work)
Laws Ending Sweatshops in the United States

Yes, some unions and union policies have given unions a bad name, but on the whole, unions are one of the best things that ever happened to working men and women.

BUT HE DID FUCK IT UP!

That's the crazy thing. People rate him higher for handling the economy, but its clearly a disaster right now with record unemployment and the loss of several years of stock market gain because he failed with the COVID response.

Very hard to say for sure, because the COVID disaster would have been a massive economic hit, no matter what. It's an economic disaster globally. I think he almost certainly has made it worse by handling it so badly, but it's incredibly difficult to quantify that, or prove anything definitively.

I think the best that could be said for him is he didn't start any gratuitous and futile wars. That puts him one-up on Dubya. And I think that's simply because he's too ignorant and uninterested in the world outside the US. I'm sure he senses at some level that in the event of a war he would rapidly lose control of things, as the "deep state" figures who are far more competent and confident about such matters would inevitably marginalise him. It's outside his comfort-zone. I think he's scared of war - that may be the one vaguely 'normal', and not entirely pathological, human weakness he has. His cowadice is the closest thing he has to a positive trait.

Contemplate WTF is wrong with a big chunk of Maine Democrats.
I think Collins could be wooed to become independent and caucus with dems. She's had to walk this crazy line to keep R support. Maine loves independent mindset. I think she'd go along with green energy and public option for Healthcare.

I know a lot here want to say FU to the GOP, but without a senate majority we need help.

Yeah, I doubt she'll flip. She would have done it by now if she had any inclination.

Because their Progressheviks betters told them to hate Trump. No one was "put in chains" once Trump was elected and he was liked by minorities until he ran for President because he became an instant racist. The aftermath of "Russia collusion" and the impeachment showed what real scumbags are in charge of the government on the Democrat side. No one seems to care about the Dossier, Crossfire Hurricane, and the FISA warrants because Liberals seems to chalk it up as the cost of doing business and their propagandists in the media are more than willing to help.

What though? They don't get on with their in-laws and under Trump there's a greater chance they'll die of covid?

---

Side note - I'll make a prediction based on if Biden wins: The covid figures are going to keep getting worse until whatever new policies have had time to start having an effect, during which time Trump zealots are going to claim that Biden's policies are causing the pandemic to thrive.
