So can someone explain the purpose of giving up a vice for just 40 days? If it's something that's "bad", why not give it up for good?

To be honest, I'm not sure yet. I'll have to figure it out by the end of the day. I've been kicking around the idea that instead of my usual giving up of carbonated drinks, I'll instead do something more proactive like commit to a daily excersize routine.

I decided to give up booze for a month, starting on Feb 14. That's close enough for lent, right? I'm not religious or anything, so it's just a happy or unhappy coincidence.

Back just in time for St. Patricks Day, eh? 😉
