if your lifestyle is advocating you taking such "risky" measures toward your health..then perhaps you should re-evaluate what is important to you....

..."this is LA"; what does that have to do with anything. You are young and no doubt you work hard. But make sure you think this through, as later in life some of these decisions will come up in your mind and heart, wondering when you see a child, if it is yours.

many times our technology promotes such a beneficial short term outcome, that the long term possible detriments are minimized.

I know many in LA and surrounding area and have visited many times. Either they live beyond their means and go way into debt or leave. It is a place where image supercedes pragmatism, even to the point of self-destruction.

So many people these days cannot live with having to do without at times!

Enjoy life and strive to be happy....within your means!

Do more research (other than talking to the egg farmers) into the downsides of it. I read an article about this girl who donated an egg only to have permant damage and she wasn't able to have a child later after that.

Sorry I don't have any details but it seems like a something that should be considered and looked into.

there are ads for this in our school paper.. i think they pay 5000.

as for the guys version of this... they have a crap load of requirements.... like height.. which i fail right away... BLAH.. i could have used some easy money. heh

That's why I recommended getting them to take some out for her as well

how much money you get for a sperm donation?

20-50 is what I've heard. You have to basically be perfect physically and mentally in order for them to accept it though

I had a woman ask me for my 'macho gazpacho' one time - even offered to do it 'oldschool' as she was desperate to conceive and wanted a kid with blue eyes. I tried explaining basic genetics to her but she didn't care. She didn't offer me money (that b!tch! 😉 ) but she was kinda hot. The thought of offspring wandering around out there kinda bugs me, otherwise I'm sure I would have tapped it liberally. Ships in the night or something something....

why? i'd think they'd just look at things that get determined by genetics.

eye color, skin color, hair color, and facial features...

You have to take written tests and interview as well. They have to make sure that you are very intelligent. No woman wants to plunk down 10k for retard sperm

$7000 and up for this one company. Some individuals pay $10-100,000 according to the article. http://www.dailyillini.com/jan03/jan28/news/stories/campus01.shtml
Once again, it's proven that there are gender bias towards men. I'm sure there are beeelions of sperms in a cup, and given the survival rates, them sperms still has a good chance, but still nothing compare to an egg. Geez... talking about equality.

The men get a Playboy and a cup.

The women have to inject themselves with hormones for 7-12 days, refrain from sex for 2 months, and go under anesthesia to have the eggs removed by a surgeon, who inserts a needle into the vagina.

Men produce millions of sperm, and women release one per month.

Yup, that's equal.

Two words: Multiple Orgasms.

'Nuff said.

😀

'Sides that, I think you'd better seriously consider the ramifications of "problems" prior to signing on the dotted line.

so if they take 15-50 of your eggs, does that mean you will hit menopause 1.25 - 4.167 years early??

the menopause is actually when they run out of eggs? :Q i always thought it's when the eggs are no longer fertile. like she needed to seal the tupperware better or something 😛

Someone mentioned something along he line of having 3000 eggs, even at 15 eggs a year that is 200 years worth.

So no, that is not how menopause works at all....

Actually Walleye is right... you'll have to refrain from sex for 2 months, so she would make 60k in one year. Which school do you go to again?

On a side note? Can you still rub one out, I don't know if that's consider sex. For the female, the invasion might damage the ege and procedure... so, can you?

I was thinking, if she would just crop a whole buncha eggs and give group discount.

Just make sure you could live with the ramifications. If you do end up having permanent damage (not having children later on, etc) is it really worth it? I don't think I could do it. For people who want kids there are tons of children in need of adoption.

More power to you whatever your decision may be.

How can you live with the thought that over a dozen of your children could be walking the earth and you'd have no idea how they were doing or how they'd were being cared for?
Being a parent is more than donating a sperm or egg. Parenting is the process of raising a child, not creating an embryo. If I donated sperm I wouldn't care who used them or what happened to them. The resulting person isn't any of my business.

I agree to a point but if you carry half of your genetic legacy from me,I personally have a rather vested interest in seeing to your well being. This type of thing is something I'd only consider doing for a relative or very close friend, with no money changing hands.

So many guys seem to think that this is something a woman could do easily on a regular, monthly basis. Not true at all.

If a woman does decide to donate her eggs more than once, a minimum break of 3 months in between donations is required. Additionally, there is a law that states that no more than 10 different children may be born from the eggs of one donor.

As this is a VERY long, serious, and invasive procedure, financial needs should NOT be the sole motivation for egg donation. There is much, much more to it than that (esp. for me).

FYI: Surrogates (women who carry the fertilized egg to birth) are paid $60,000-80,000 per pregnancy. Most surrogates are women and mothers who have already given birth, and want to share that gift with others.

My bad.

$10000 is alot of money. But remember it well that this is YOUR child (Not in the responsibility sense though).
S/he will have half your genes.

Just don't get creeped out walking down the street 20 years from now seeing a younger version of yourself 🙂
