I wonder how many (total) musicians they have to choose from? Just in the videos in this thread there are a few different guys on the drum kit. It'd be great to have these guys at the cocktail hour for a wedding.

Some of the greatest rock and roll out there has been semantically null. You find a good riff and beat it into the ground. Simple, uncomplicated, good fun.

They seem to be along these lines I'd say, personally.

Like Muscle Shoals or The Wrecking Crew, or my judgement is really off.

Many of them appear to be set musicians to me at any rate.

I would say this too. I'm not sure how I missed that thread, but without bumping it 'The Eagles' documentary on Netflix is fantastic. Muscle Shoals and 20 feet from stardom are also incredible. I can't listen to 'Gimme Shelter' without thinking of that documentary.

Also noteworthy, as a drummer I'm in love with that snare. What is it?

I don't think ive ever heard the song the Op is talking about

It was produced before you guys were even born. It's like complaining that driving a horse and buggy is stupid. Of course it is... NOW.

But it wasn't stupid back in the day and neither was We're an American Band as the song was #1 on the charts for 10 weeks in the US leading to piles of cash. Sounds pretty smart to me.

I wasn't born yet either, but I thank god my parents brought my up listening to real music. Music that was recorded using real instruments. I have loved all the 'classic' bands since childhood... and it's still what I listen to today. Of course there is new stuff here and there that I enjoy, but nothing will ever top what happened years ago as far as music goes.

The icing on the cake is this, it makes me cry a little bit: http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100

Apparently, very many.

I've seen that snare somewhere before, can't place it off hand if the one I think you are looking at.

Maple hoop rims I think.

Not sure, possibly even modded...
