Please do update the figures as I'm curious. It's all about the $$$
Is this a new cutting edge procedure or is it readily available throughout the country?
My co-pay was $30, and that covered the consult, scheduled procedure, post-op checkup a couple weeks after and semenalysis.
Looking up the claims... I have this:
Surgery - Submitted = $576, Insurance Paid = $377
Office Visit - Submitted = $102, Insurance Paid = $43, Copay = $30
Lab Pathology - Submitted = $136, Insurance Paid = $23.80
OP: Pro tip: Whatever it takes, avoid getting an erection for the next six weeks. Smack it with the Bible if you have to but just don't.
Honestly, it's not that bad. 6 weeks is a bit excessive. Maybe a WEEK, tops.
Oh yea, like I "really" see someone admitting that their wife told them to get snipped. They would never be able to live that down.
We all know what happens in 99.9% of the cases. The woman says something like "I had the kids, you can get fixed".
Instead of standing up and saying "hell no", the sissy of the house tucks is tail between his legs and runs down to the doctor.
I have 5 kids.
I wanted to make sure there weren't any more coming down the pipe.
My wife has medical issues making hormonal-based birth control a non-starter. We learned that the hard way, several medical bills later.
I got sick of condoms, and
I wanted to go au naturale.
My wife wanted me to have a procedure which was non-invasive and didn't have any foreign materials in me. The doctor I went to does the procedure with metal clips sealing off the excised vas deferens, rather than chemical cauterization. My wife wasn't pleased.
I didn't give her a choice. (Besides, I like the notion that I have
"balls of steel" now)
You see a pattern here? While we both agreed at a certain point that we were done, it was ultimately
MY CHOICE to have this procedure.
