My point isn't that it is a crappy car, it's that it's "overclockability" is moot when the initial price is so high. It was probably expensive because Toyota is tooled up for FWD. When they build a proper RWD machine it's gonna cost. Seems a shame to try an eek so much from a small engine. I prefer the low tech, brute strength of a V8. It's the cheaper way to go in this neck of the woods and gets the job done pretty effortlessly.

He's trying to say that it's more expensive for Toyota to produce a RWD Supra platform, because almost all of their vehicle platforms are tooled up for FWD. It's more cost effective to produce RWD platforms when you're set up for RWD, not FWD...

Not only that is baselined at 299 RWHP. Most LS1's make about 310-315. So yeah about 400+ RWHP for 2000. Or you could spend about 6 hundred on nitrous and have about 450 RWHP.

Since nobody ever answered my questions at the beginning of this topic, I guess now would be the perfect time to ask again. Two questions:
  1. Why RWD, not front wheel drive? (I don't understand how go-kart, boy racers can even relate!)
  2. Why not go head's up against domestics?
No replacement for displacement, eh? 😉

Yeah genocide touched on it, but didn't explain why some Compact Drag Racing Boyz are so upset with allowing V8s to compete?

I don't think I fully understand your reason for asking RWD, but we all know that its optimal for sports cars.

If they don't know now, they should be able to figure it out soon! I just think it's ironic that the Japanese import fanboys hold up the Supra Turbo as the be all, end all sports car, and it has almost no relation to their daily drivers, other than it's diminutive size.

Now we have people tricking out these 'exotic' machines to produce monster horsepower and they gape in awe. It's like modding a high tech 2 cycle, weedwacker to cut your lawn, when a low tech, 22" 4 cycle, mower from Walmart will do the job better and cheaper. And no, it won't handle the tight 'curves', but a smart landscaper will eliminate those... much like the majority of our American roads!
 
Where is your fcking finesse in a Supra or your fcking redneck in a domestic? I am so fcking tired of domestic drivers being called rednecks. Listen find a goddamn import with some balls and tell them to PM me. We can do whatever they want. Road course, drag strip, etc.
