congrats, and good luck.

how long have you been dating?
Today is the three year anniversary of when we started dating. We are going to repeat our very first date tonight. Except of course for when I pop the question.

how long have you lived together?
Almost two years

Ah, the same age as your Adidas, I see. :)

Congrats! While I would think a prenup would be a good way to go, it obviously won't fly with you, nor the girl (if they're a "traditional family")

It's your marriage, not our's, so have fun

The sooner you get married, the sooner you can get your first divorce out of the way.

That, sir, is an AMAZING PLAN! CONGRATS to you! Sounds like a lotta love and that's never a bad thing. I think ~2 years is the universal "make it or break it" point. By 2 years you've learned enough to know if you can/want to stay with that person forever. At 3 years it's pretty definite unless something drastic were to happen. All the best bro, all the best :)
Thanks. I know she will enjoy tonight. Our first date was a bit of a disaster due to a storm. The place we were going to have dinner lost electircity, as did most of the city, so we ended up eating at this little mom and pop burger place. Afterwards the only place "fun" that had electricity was the bowling alley so we went there. Not at all what was planned, but it turned out to be a great night. Driving around in the mostly dark city, trying to find a place that was open so we could eat, etc...we both laughed ourselves silly that night. Something we still talk about to this day.

Yes. I told you they were sexy. They helped me talk her in to moving in. ;)

I have the ring, just need my balls to drop back down.

Wish me luck.
You'll be fine. She will remember this moment forever no matter what you say. It's kind of hard to screw up a proposal. :)

Prenups are for old rich men marrying 18yr olds, and paranoid losers. Life in general is a gamble and marriage especially, if you aren,t willing to take the gamble and throw all your chips in the pot, you shouldn't be getting married. If you don't value the marriage more than your precious Volvo or savings account or whatever your afraid to lose, it ain't going to work anyway.

All you sad prenup trolls should STFU

Good luck!

You gotta get to know the parents sometime :)

And honestly, those of you who have threadcrapped are sad people.
I think a prenup is an okay idea too, but that is the OP's choice, not yours, so STFU & keep it to yourself.

He's already decided on no prenup, so let's get back to the original point.

Keep us updated on how it goes. I would ask for pics, but you've said you don't own a camera phone, digital camera, scanner, or electric light bulbs. BTW, by "traditional," did you mean you two were Amish?

Just call me Jebediah. ;)

I know I am unusual here in that I don't have all the gadgets that seem to almost be required these days.

Congrats on your upcoming engagement.

as far as tradition... it goes like this...

Asking permission is not really done anymore. BUT it is a huge sign of respect to talk to her parents first and express your intentions. Then you ask her... then, together, you tell your parents. Then the grooms parents call the brides parents and invite them to dinner or lunch or drinks or something... to talk about plans and etc.

:) Congrats again.
