Thanks. I know she will enjoy tonight. Our first date was a bit of a disaster due to a storm. The place we were going to have dinner lost electircity, as did most of the city, so we ended up eating at this little mom and pop burger place. Afterwards the only place "fun" that had electricity was the bowling alley so we went there. Not at all what was planned, but it turned out to be a great night. Driving around in the mostly dark city, trying to find a place that was open so we could eat, etc...we both laughed ourselves silly that night. Prenups are for old rich men marrying 18yr olds, and paranoid losers. Life in general is a gamble and marriage especially, if you aren,t willing to take the gamble and throw all your chips in the pot, you shouldn't be getting married. If you don't value the marriage more than your precious Volvo or savings account or whatever your afraid to lose, it ain't going to work anyway.

Asking permission is not really done anymore. BUT it is a huge sign of respect to talk to her parents first and express your intentions. Then you ask her... then, together, you tell your parents. Then the grooms parents call the brides parents and invite them to dinner or lunch or drinks or something... to talk about plans and etc.
