Congrats. I remember doing the same thing 2 years ago, I've now been married for a year and a half and couldn't be happier. Don't listen to the bad comments, marriage is what you make of it with your partner, if you guys get along then all will be fine.

Sorry, don't believe in that. To me that says you think there is a chance the marriage will not work out. If that is the way someone feels then they shouldn't be getting married in the first place.

Besides, neither of us have that much. What is she going to take, my Adidas?

Prenup isn't for now, it's for then.
What happens when you buy a house together, she leaves you, and takes the kids AND the house AND your car, and leaves you with nothing?
I assume that you do want to have a house/car/kids in the future?
I refuse to go into this with thoughts that it could fail. In my mind if you have those kind of questions in your head then you aren't ready to get married.

Already own a house, already have cars, no kids yet though. If something were to happen and we split up then so be it

Your loss naive man.

No kidding. I used to be like him... I never thought my ex-wife and I would get divorced, but it was the best move ever. My new gf knows that when we get married she will be required to sign a prenup. She doesn't like it, but only a fool doesn't protect himself.

Just because you made a bad decision doesn't mean everyone does.

You do realize the odds of YOUR marriage working out are only 50/50, right?

i have to say i admire the OP for his idealism, but it just doesn't work that way in the real world. people change, and things happen. even marriages that go in with the best intentions can end up in shambles. it's certainly noble and idealistic to go in without a prenup, but it CAN bite you in the ass later.

i used to think like that too...we will never break up, people shouldn't say what they don't mean, we will love each other forever, we will work things out...but unfortunately life just doesn't happen that way all the time and it's naive to think that you live in fairytale land and everyone lives happily ever after. it's really best to be prepared...especially if you already own a house.

No, but I can describe it. It is a size 4, white gold. The center diamond is 3/4 carat, then on either side are 1/2 carat diamonds, going down the band on each side are 3 diamond bagettes(spelling?) It is really pretty and should look good on her hand. We did some looking some time back and 3/4 looked perfect on her, since her hands are so small anything much bigger was too abnoxious looking.

I suppose your spouse is between 0-100 as well. I hope you're not marrying someone who's still breastfeeding
God bless America, home of the Medicine Bears, cousins of the Bad News Bears, who are second cousins to Katow-jo, who I encountered in my journeys.

I thought it was a legitimate question

Keep the prenup discussion out of this. Gigapet is a troll for just posting that one word. This is a happy time for the OP.

im a troll? Do a search for divorce in off-topic. Read all the horror stories yourself. Read the statistics. Its about being cautious now so you are not fvcked later. Of course its a happy time but its no excuse for being blind to things that can happen down the road. People change.

god damn right

my wife just left and is being *absolutely* unreasonable about things, says shell do something one minute and changes it the next, wants the kids, doesnt want them, wants to split them, wants to leave them with me and move to another state, wants half our stuff, doesnt want to share the debts, agrees to help pay the debts, its always changing with her, wish id had a prenup, then id be done with the crazy bitch.

i never saw *any* of this as a possibility when we got married, but she has gone nuts and im the one whos getting it in the ass because she wont keep any committment she makes. and i get stuck with everything.
