terrible diet. I hope you don't do any permanent damage to your body. but since you're starving yourself, you probably won't last 4 months on this "diet" anyway before caving so it should be all right.

Keep at it man. I went from 220 to 155 (5,10) in about 4 months with a diet + exercise. I lost a ton of muscle while mostly on a cardio workout. I started with weights half way through so ive surpassed my previous muscle mass. Going on a healthy diet was the biggest help for me, and hopefully it?s a permanent one.

Good luck! :)

Good job!

I think your program seems to be a much better alternative to gastric bypass.
I hope everything works out for you.

Don't let these idiots here posting about how dumb you are for doing this diet or whatever, when it is quite clear they didn't even taken an iota of a moment to figure out what your diet was all about. It is amazing that this jackholes will take the time to run their mouth but won't take time to actually read what has been posted.

I think I will make it, and I understand that it isn't the best, but it's better then surgery.

Congrats on your success and thanks for the support. Yeah I started lifting this week to try and prevent too much muscle loss, if I can get down to my goal weight (225-230) and not lose too much of the muscle I had at 410 I should be in great shape!

Yeah, thanks for saying all that man, I really apprecaite the responce (and that your read about the diet)

It doesn't bother me too much when people say they think the diet is dumb, because they clearly either didn't read the material, think about the fact that I was really struggling to not gain weight before, and am doing this as an alternative to gastric bypass.

Anyway thanks again for the support.

That goes for all, everyone who has posted in support, thanks for that!

The ATOT diet works wonders. All you have to do is nef all day and you pretty much forget about everything else, including food.

One of the worst diets i've ever seen, of course you're going to loose weight eating that stuff because theres barely any nutrition in it. And i cant believe you're actually paying for this, theres plenty of websites out that that give you free advice on how to loose weight properly by eating regular healthy foods that you will actually enjoy.
You are starving yourself with that diet and its not good for you.

I know "how" to lose weight by eating properly, I have never been able to be successful in the long term with it. As I have said, it was this or gastric bypass, and I don't think anyone would suggest that gastric bypass would be better for me.

How come you werent successful? Was it the food preparation or the excercise?
Even if both are done half assed you'll be better off then with the diet your on now. You're starving yourself now and all that weight you dropped is mostly water.
Notice how your weight loss has plateaued, you'll be lucky if you loose a pound or two by next week.

GP as extreme as it is, is the only way some people can loose weight. I have seen success stories and I have also seen the horror stories. I think that the fact that you realized that you need to loose weight and took charge is great. I really wish you the best man! Congrats thus far!

We have this at our office every year. Last year I started at 266 ans dropped back to 210. Here we are a year later and I'm back up to 255. The desk job and take out kills me. This year I will try harder to keep it off. With my 1st son on the way I don't want to be cliche "Overweight Father". I took up Boxing again with a fellow co-worker and we will start training after the new year. With regular training and sparring I think I can keep it off.

I don't see how this "diet" is any different. Long term you have to change your habits. A crash diet won't do that. You may as well just have the surgery.

If you look at the different programs, ie programs other then the first four months, you would see that the point is to start with first program and then work your way through the others. There are people who have lost weight in this program and have kept if off for more then 10 years with mixed strategies. Once guy for instance does fourmula program during the week and eats whatever he wants on the weekend. I know this isn't ideal interms of health but its much better then gastric bypass (which can kill you on the table and then afterwards you can never even go out drinking) and it is much better then not losing the weight.

Don't they have a new procedure where they just make some small cuts and put in an inflatable belt around your stomach? No stapling involved.

good work... don't lose it too fast, or it's prone to come back.

The only concern I have with the diet as outlined is that it doesn't really mimic a natural eating pattern. That is, it doesn't teach you to eat healthier for the rest of your life, unless you plan on living off potassium tablets and pickles for the next 70yrs... ? :) Do not forget to explore this very important side of the aftermath of dieting.

Anyways, good luck!

My brother weighs over 400 pounds. He was Ok'ed for the gastric bypass but changed his mind for the same reasons you never had it done. Then he found out about the "band" or belt or whatever it's called and wanted to have that done, but now the insurance company won't pay for it because it's "cosmetic" surgery.

The guy is a machinist and stands on cement all day. I think it's a little more then "cosmetic surgery", but what can he do about it??

I weighed 317 pounds and over the last almost 2 years got down to 267. I've gained back 5 since Thanksgiving though. It's tough to diet during the holidays and it's been nasty cold here since Thanksgiving also.

Anyway, this has been the worst break in my wight since I started the diet. I've never gained more then 3 pounds total back. I need to get back on track!! Anyway, good luck to you!!

My parents' neighbor had the bypass surgery. Now the doctors are worried that she's vomiting her own feces.

I would never have the bypass done. I've know people who have and it worked great, but I've also known people who lost all their weight and then gained most of it back. Permanent weight loss is going to have to invlove a change in eating habits also.

That crap that the insurance company won't pay. I am not sure if it helps, but I have heard that you can have it done in Holland for like $5k total...

Less then you would think, its $750 or so for four months. But that include Dr visits, blood tests, ekgs, meds, and the "food" as well as the educational groups they have.

It's crap alright. He's been heavy all his life, now he is having problems with his knees and feet from standing all day and the insurance company says it's "cosmetic"?? F'in B'strds!! He's been paying in all these years and when he needs them they bail out on him. Somebody is going to have to do something about the high cost of medical care in this country.

We have the most expensive health care, but we sure don't have the best health care anymore.
