The best way to lose weight is a small amount over a long period of time.. like.. the rest of your life. If you got up to 410 by just eating whatever you felt, you'll either NEVER be able to eat like that again - or you'll die in 10 years and weigh a million pounds.

Your target weight * 10 = best long term diet plans in terms of calories.. You wanna weigh 220.. eat 2200 calories/day and get exercise - lots of exercise. If you wanna feel like sh1t for a few months, lose a ton of weight, and then gain it all back, do a crash diet.

I don't claim to be an expert.. but this sh!t just seems to be obvious. And every goddamn overweight person wants some sort of special program for 'physically fit' to happen quickly.

I hate to crap on the weight loss.. but every time you lost weight, you gained it back - and then some. Instead of sticking to this for a couple months, you need to plan for a lifetime. Losing weight isn't as easy as just going without food.. Go without food for 10 days and drink water - and you'd lose lots of weight in that 10 days.. but then in the next one day, you could eat 10,000 calories and still feel hungry. The human body is made for an environment where food is scarce - it's up to you to discipline yourself to treat it that way for a lifetime.

IMO, just get use to the 'slightly hungry' feeling and being 'half full' after every meal and you'd probby do fine. Oh ya.. stay the hell away from processed foods and snacks..

Sorry if I seem harsh, but I got a brother and dad who have been struggling with weight loss for years now - and it seems they've finally realized that losing weight is a lifetime commitment and not something that happens in two months.

Even if you lose a ton of weight on this program, you HAVE to see a dietician and plan a way to keep it off. If you've survived the last 4 months on a single pickle per day and then suddenly eat a cheeseburger, your body will somehow figure out a way to gain 10lbs back from that single cheeseburger.

That is physically impossible, but nice try....

He could only gain calories in burger / 3500 in weight... so like half a pound

Concentrate more on exercise, which boosts metabolism, rather than starvation, which lowers it.

Amazing weight loss!!! I lost 32 pounds once in 30 days and it was a starvation diet, literally, I had one heaping teaspoon of peanut butter a day at the most.

Keep it up Jake!

That's insane bro. You lost water and muscle tissue and lowered your metabolic setpoint. Don't do that dude.

You need to understand that starvation diets are a metabolisms worst enemy. When you start to lose muscle tissue - which you eventually will if you haven't already - your metabolic rate will lower as a result of the loss of muscle tissue. Now, here's the kicker.... when you resume "normal" eating - which 90% of people on diets eventually do - you will gain back all the bodyfat you lost, however, the muscle tissue you lost during your yo-yo dieting will not return without strength training. The result will be the same amount or more bodyfat with an even lower metabolic setpoint. The reason the body lowers metabolism when muscle tissue is lost and calories are too low is that the body will try to rid itself of whatever is more costly in terms of maintenance. And because muscle tissue requires lots of calories to maintain it, the body will quickly offload this unneeded muscle tissue if calories drop to low. The human body has learned to adapt to this over millions of years of evolution, so if you mess around too severely, bad things will happen.

You used to weigh almost 4 times more than me! LOL.
I wish there was some cheap cheap plan to make me hungry. And no, eating lotsa fast food will kill me instead of making me a healthier "bigger" person. :)

I don't think this diet is a good idea at all. That is starvation mode, not healthy weight loss. At your weight you should still keep 2500-3000 calories a day (and I'm serious), but do a lot of cardio and lift weights. At that weight, your Resting Metabolic Rate would be around 3600 calories, so you'd be cutting 600-1100 calories a day. Your weight will go down naturally, yet you will still keep your metabolism high so that when you DO go down to an ideal weight, you will able to maintain it much easier.

Right now yes, you are losing fat, but you are also losing water and muscle in the process, as long as completly destroying your metabolism. It's good that you are also choosing to excercise to help lose weight, but the diet must fit too. Right now you are almost ONLY using your fat and muscle storage - you aren't even keeping up the calorie rate for basic human survival needs.

GP's are not schooled in the study of metabolism. They learn the basics and that's it.

As for being under a doctor's care, most only care about having a nice before and after pic they can use to show how their program works to sell to others, and to make sure you still are clinically alive during the fasting. No sane doctor would prescribe such a diet for healthy weight loss.
