Incorrect. There is a logic die at the bottom of the stack, but it does not house what most people would call the controller.
Why don`t you be helpful and post this instead 😉

We know this about 390X:
Benchmarks:
Firestrike Extreme 2779
Can`t remember the name of the benchmark 😛
Both putting it slightly below GTX 980 and slightly above 290X.
Power:
8+8 which happens to be the same as OC 290X models (and Fury X).
Price:
$449
If I should be bold and guess, I would think the Fiji cards are the real deal with power reduction and performance, while 390X and below are just rebrands with higher clocks.
Those pictures look to me like XFX has just swapped the shroud on the cooler and painted the backplate matte black. Everything else about the card looks identical to the 290X. I suppose they could reuse the PCB design even with a different chip. But it does look a lot like they are going to ship 290s as 390s. It just doesn't make much sense to me why AMD would do this. They haven't been selling their current cards and I can't see how a name change is going to change that.
GDDR5 so this isn't Fiji (the interposer using chip shown by Lisa Su) so why is it in this thread?
No we don't
So you really think that AMD would charge $449 for a card that performs worse than GTX 980 in almost every metric? This lack of logic is concerning 😵
You are wrong again. No one is deluding themselves for believing in a $449 390X 8GB price tag. It is a very realistic MSRP equal to what XFX already has set for their current 290X 8GB card.Historically AMD has always shooted for the price/perf crown, those insinuating that it could be otherwise with the new line up are just deluding themsleves.Gikaseixas said:No we don't

The point is that I find AMD to be a great value purchase for the raw performance I get to money spent. But as my income increases, I will end up purchasing Nvidia's product as I have less time to do work arounds or whatever to get key features I want working.
I am sure I am not the only person who feels that way and that's a problem for AMD. You want your brand to get less sales with people of higher income vs your competitor.
I'm saying that if AMD wants to create a premium line, it needs to remove the stigma that the driver support is nonexistant so I'm curious to see if they've improved drivers/software as the early rumors we had said that fiji was ready and they were working on drivers.
Not like the 780 ti going from ~10% faster than the 290X to as much as 20% slower in a matter of a few months like we are seeing now. And this is with GW titles.
No. It's possibly an OEM type model just for Best Buy? Very confusing. 😕In the picture there's 'Lifetime warranty only at best buy'. Is this the norm for XFX?

You are just jumping to conclusions. Between your complete lack of science and using one rumor, how can you actually believe that this is the answer?
I don't expect AMD to retrofit features to older products. The best we should expect is continued support for a reasonable time. Not like the 780 ti going from ~10% faster than the 290X to as much as 20% slower in a matter of a few months like we are seeing now. And this is with GW titles. If you think that's money better spent, then you can do that. I don't think this will be universally accepted though.

Some people confuse MSRP with (MSRP - weekend sale price - mail in rebate - coupon - Visa checkout discount). Just because a card has an MSRP doesn't mean it has to always sell at that price.
I dont think that is his conclusion, but his opinion!, and one that I also share along with others I have seen mention this before.
Fury X in the premium market where the buyers have more money they may simply purchase Nvidia because Nvidia is more in with the devs, has better/more software features and better/faster driver support.
