EVeryone knows wine is for women and beer is for men.

More like wine is for alcoholics. It's the absolute worst tasting thing on the planet and the only reason people drink it is because it contains alcohol. If you're not desperately poor, you'll buy good tasting things like lime margarita coolers. If you're homeless but still want to get ripped, you'll drink wine because it's 3x stronger and 1/3 the cost.

If you're hanging out with little girls with a low IQ (or live a sheltered life) who are going to judge you for your distinguished taste in wine, then you need to start dating women. It's that simple.

Is my sarcasm meter off or something? Are you comparing the absolute cheapest wine to the most expensive beer?

A really strong wine is comparable to drinking a six-pack of beer. I can certainly buy a six-pack of beer cheaper than a bottle of wine.

Maybe wine is just really expensive in the US. In Canada, a 2L bottle of average wine at 15% alcohol will set you back about $15.
2000ml * 15% / 5% / 355ml = 16.9 cans of beer
A 15 pack of average beer is like $30. It's such a huge fucking scam. That's why alcoholics here don't drink beer. They drink wine.

If you drink something like Corona, holy doodle try like $3098234234 for 15 cans.

wow maybe he's not being sarcastic. You can buy a cheap bottle of wine for $2 - that is 750mL, at probably 13 or 14% ABV. Yes it will allow you to probably get more drunk at a better price than purchasing beer, and if your liquor is highly controlled then it may be cheaper than liquor as well, but I know you can purchase a half gallon of cheap vodka or rum for $8.99 in many places.

But saying a blanket statement like wine is for alcoholics is absurd. Wine has such a varied price point.

How big are you talking? 750mL of vodka (25.3oz) costs about $26.

Ironically it's cheaper to do illegal drugs. 1 cap of E is about $10.

Damn. I can get 750mL of shit vodka for barely $5.

You can get shit 80 proof for less than $26, but not much less. I'd say even the shittiest 80 proof will cost you at least $18.

Remember all liquor here is sold through government run liquor stores. Some states in the US are similar I know. Basically take the strictest US state in terms of "state run liquor stores" and you get the idea. You can get beer and wine at specialty cold beer and wine stores that have a license but they charge a premium over the government stores usually. And you won't find any alcoholic drinks of any type in convenience stores or grocery stores.

Bars and restaurants have full licenses. I was just talking about where you could buy alcohol for take home consumption.

Almost all restaurants have licenses to sell actually. BUT you won't see smaller take away places selling beer on average like I've seen in the US. There might be a law that you have to be a sit down establishment or something?

here 750ml of jack daniels is about 16 bucks, maybe? seven crown is maybe 11-12, canadian mist is less...

on occasion, a good, cheap, end of the day 'fuck it' drink has been a half pint of early times (cheap domestic whiskey). two buck chuck right there.

a pint of crap vodka is probably as little as 3-4 bucks.

'crowded in here.'

'well, it is nine dollar beer night...'

I've seen crap beer here in restaurants for around $4 but I don't know of any place that you can get anything for much less than that. Course I'm still talking 5% beer. We don't like no American 2% stuff :p

Actually some to think of it I think it IS cheaper if you buy a 6 back at a government liquor store.
